We camp 8 months per year and are looking for a mattress. Could you give us an update on your Wilderness RV Mattress? Did it old up?
@CarolsCurrentObsession6 ай бұрын
It did indeed, we are still using that same mattress in our trailer and it has held up beautifully! Also, Since our bed is set up all of the time, it's the only other place to sit in our tiny trailer, so we sit on the edge of it allllllll the time, and the sides have not sagged or become misshapen whatsoever. It is sooo comfy, I love it!🥰💞💝

Thank you Robin! I have had the best luck finding them on ebay. I have found many gems in purchasing vintage wig lots. Try using any or all of the tag words : vintage doll wig lot nos . Can you tel me how to get the old wig and glue off of a vintage plastic doll like that? I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
@CarolsCurrentObsession7 ай бұрын
Ok so if it's an original wig, it should just easily peel up, however if the wig is more recent and has been glued with a stronger glue it will take some more serious action. If someone has gorilla glued the wig down, you may need to peel it off with a razor.
@suzannebeinart43597 ай бұрын
@@CarolsCurrentObsession I just tried it with a 1950s Ginny doll with alcohol wipes on 70 year old glue, and managed to get it off. I was worried about damaging the plastic, but so far it seems to be okay. It wasn't going to come off without some kind of chemical help. Thank you for your response! I enjoy your videos about dolls!
@CarolsCurrentObsession7 ай бұрын
@@suzannebeinart4359 I've never tried alcohol wipes! Would you be willing to come back a few weeks later and say whether it discolored or damaged the plastic? If it works well, then that will save hundreds of vintage doll restoring folks much grief and thousands of hours! 🥰😊🥰😊🥰

What about the arms? Usually the head arms and legs are all hooked together.
@CarolsCurrentObsession7 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, I did another stringing doll video in which I showed the arms. I'm sorry I didn't include it in this one. Basically it's the same idea, only I always prefer stretching the arms band only between the arms, rather than using the same band as the head and legs. One of the reasons for that is that sometimes you want to position the the arms a certain way and you can't because the pressure on the legs and head are off and won't let it stay there. Anyway, so measure a few inches past across the length of the chest, then double it and cut to length. Hook one arm hook through, then feed the ends through that arm arm hole, then hook the other arm hook on one side of the strings, and tie the strings as tight as you possibly can, and then tie the knot again. Shove the ends into the body cavity, and voilá, they are done!

Isn't that a Sweet Sue "hard plastic" doll, not a composition doll?
@CarolsCurrentObsession9 ай бұрын
I've answered this on several other comments, and I too am surprised about the nature of this doll ~ however ~ no, it's not hard plastic, it truly is compo. I do have another Sweet Sue that is the same size and she IS a hard plastic, and I did a video on her and show these 2 dolls together as well. Even the coloring is different, as would be obvious between a hard plastic and compo doll. But how do I know for sure that she is compo? A couple of things ~ she has crazing, which is not to be found on a hard plastic doll, she knocks or sounds like a compo doll, and, most importantly ~ if you look at the inside of her limbs, you can clearly SEE that she is compo. I don't know what the back story is on her, or where she originated, but my best guess is that she was a transition doll or a prototype doll. And there you have it. A weird one off? Maybe.... I haven't ever seen another compo Sweet Sue in her size. I do have several 18" and 14" Sweet Sue's that are compo as well as hard plastic ones, but this 24" is the only compo one I've ever come across.

A cloudy eye on my wife's 1963 vintage "Rosebud" is what concerns me. The left eye is a little foggy compared to the right. I have seen this trouble supposedly cleared elsewhere by placing a paper funnel over the faulty eye and directing warm air from a hair-dryer. Have you any views on this or would you advise sewing machine oil or maybe silicone oil? Many thanks and kind regards from l'il olde England!

I don't know if just any wood filler would work, simply because I have only used the Elmer's. If you are going to experiment, be very careful about it, and test it out in a hidden place, such as the ball joint that fits into the hip, or something. No worries on the wig, there are many many wigs available on ebay that will fit and look great, just be sure to measure her head correctly, and you are golden 🥰🥰 Good luck on your awesome buy, let me know how it goes! 🥰

Hi Liz 🥰 Thank you so much for caring! 🥰🥰🥰 I've been in and out of several illnesses lately, and we had 3 new grandbabies born this year, one of which I was caring for for a few months while that daughter was finalizing her exit from a job so that she could stay home full time. I do have several new dolls and outfits to show you all, and I even have some of the filming done, but I hadn't been able to find time to finish up and edit and post. It's probably TMI, lol, but I just started a new medication called mounjaro for type 2 diabetes, and hopefully I'll be back into full swing here in a few weeks. I really miss all of you and I'm really looking forward to posting about these new dolls and their costumes, plus I have a few vintage dolls that I have been slowly but surely working on restoring as well, and I can't wait to show those to everyone as well. 🥰 Thank you again for your concern, I truly appreciate it, and I promise I'll get some new videos out very very soon! I hope you have a beautiful week, my friend! 🥰🥰🥰🥰💕🥰
