Odd question, if you use macOS, does your pixel appear when plugged in? I plug my pixel into my Mac and it does not come up in finder, or on the desktop. I installed Graphene on my desktop, maybe that’s the issue?

Dumb question: Do I need virus software with Graphene OS, or does it come as part of the framework?
@sideofburritosКүн бұрын
No, you don't need it. The second comment on this post summarizes the reason why - discuss.grapheneos.org/d/519-antivirus "Android's approach is much better because apps are sandboxed and restricted to only accessing the sensitive data that you explicitly give them access to."

Thanks for the intro to the private space. I wish the developers would make it possible to group apps in the private space, unfortunately that's not possible in pixel 7 and 9. Unfortunately, the private space gets quite full and cluttered with all the apps that are there in alphabetical order.

It does! Pixel 8 and later is a massive improvement over the prior devices when using GrapheneOS due to hardware memory tagging.”

Is "Molly" safe to use on Graphene? It's built with Google framework isn't it?
@sideofburritos6 күн бұрын
Most non-foss apps are built with proprietary blobs (including Signal). The regular Molly version is to maintain feature parity to Signal, but you can also use Molly-Foss which does not include them - github.com/mollyim/mollyim-android

Hey, how is RAM management on Graphene? I see that stock android is still terrible, in that it kicks a few apps from RAM every few hours during the day and over night it kicks all of the apps from RAM. Does the same happen on Graphene? Wouldn't want to switch and end up in the same situation. Talking about Pixel 9 pro XL and 8 pro here.
@sideofburritos6 күн бұрын
I don't have either of those devices, but what is the issue you're experiencing? Is it that apps are being closed that you expect to stay open? I haven't had any issues with apps I expect to stay running (VPN, Signal) being automatically closed when I have them configured no to.

I've been so satisfied with my Pixel 6a on Graphene that I enjoy the LACK of stress over updates. I've not yet queried my device to see if any updates were available, since I use it for phone calls and photography ONLY. I've not bothered with using the Vanadium browser nor F-Droid. That's stress-reduction, right there! It's like the days of using my land line (I'm in my 7th decade...) and taking pictures with my 20+ year-old DSLR and film SLR...all in the same device. It does what it says on the tin, and it's EXACTLY what I want! Mahalo to YOU and Graphene for keeping my life calm, quiet and free of distracting texts, spam calls, and a camera that DOESN'T report everything it sees and hears to Google!

By the way, in the United States it is probably not a good idea to knowingly and intentionally destroy evidence. Each state has its own statute and, if you're tangled up in a federal investigation, there is this law: *18 USC § 1519* _Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both._

GrapheneOS is great. While it does limit access for certain programs to servers and etc for privacy, some apps connectivity are essential and there is really no work arounds unless you use an Application that runs the app in a virtual OS. That's the only thing I don't like, I just wish there was the ability to allow/disallow certain things.
@sideofburritos10 күн бұрын
I don't quite understand what you're saying. What connectivity is being blocked?

@sideofburritos Certain servers that are crucial for apps. I know you can get Google Plugins and stuff but some apps have servers they need in order to send and retrieve information. For example, Snapchat. Snapchat requires a verification from the server to know if you can login ETC.
