Thanks, yes I received a few confirmations that it's not planaria, but these detritus worms are no worry either... I've been told

That's definitely not planaria. Planarians have a distinctive arrow-shaped head with two little dot eyes and are much shorter and broader overall than this.

What would be the dose for 5 gallon of table salt? How frequent and how long do you leave it? Without the fish or with the fish ?
@dwsdarius2 күн бұрын
Roughly 2 Tbsp for a 5 gallon aquarium, for about a week, with the fish inside. I'd do a water change after the week see if there are any results, if not, I'd repeat again. Some fish like clown loaches and catfish are sensitive to salt I'd do half dosage

How come they seem to kind of just keep the feeder fish in their mouthes for so long rather than simply swallowing them? Sorry if its a dumb question but the only fish I've ever had as pets were all rather small when I was growing up as a kid so I really don't know much about keeping larger fresh water or any salt water fish at all either for that matter
@dwsdarius14 күн бұрын
Hey, so the peacock bass swallow the first and maybe the second fish instantly, but when they go for a 3rd fish they are really stuffing themselves, so it takes a while to go down.

I got a question, if i was wanting to get a mated pair of two fish but didnt have the space to put the others once they are grown would most fish stores accept them as surrenders? Or could i just get two of them really young and raise them together?
@dwsdarius14 күн бұрын
Most fish stores will readily except surrendered fish; however, I usually just try to sell them locally. getting two fish young is a gamble because its really tough to sex them at younger ages

This is what they are designed to do, and feeder fish for the most part are designed to be food for these predators. I’ve been thinking of setting up an indoor pond to raise feeders. My only issue is that it makes my fish more likely to feed on each other and be more aggressive towards each other. Great content 👍🏽
@dwsdarius17 күн бұрын
Yes that's a downside. Any fish that I try to add to this tank that's under 10" may be looked at as food, which sucks. Thanks for watching
@matthewzito613017 күн бұрын
There's another problem with using goldfish as feeders. Goldfish (even healthy ones) contain high levels of thiaminase, which can cause Vitamin B1 deficiency.

These fish are predators and in nature all they eat is other fish (mostly). I see nothing wrong with feeding them live fish from time to time. Especially the way you go about it with preparing the feeders - - that is a long and laborious process most would not undergo. Kudos to you. Your fish are awesome and very healthy. I have been keeping fish for 50 years now and started when I was 5 years old with livebearers. Such a fun and intersting hobby. Love your content!
