The video was a fascinating discussion about the potential of AI to enhance human capabilities and the ethical considerations that come with it. I particularly liked the metaphor of AI as a "bicycle for the mind", which highlights the potential for AI to amplify our cognitive abilities and efficiency. One of the key takeaways for me was the importance of building a science of inversion, where algorithms infer mental states rather than just predict behaviour. This is a crucial area of research, as it could lead to a deeper understanding of human behaviour and preferences, and ultimately more effective and ethical AI systems. The discussion around the gap between behaviour and preferences was also thought-provoking. The idea that algorithms might magnify certain aspects of ourselves that are not truly reflective of our preferences is a concern, and it's a reminder that we need to be cautious about the assumptions we build into our AI systems. Overall, the video provided a fresh perspective on the role of AI in shaping our society, and I'm excited to see the continued research and development in this field.

AGI is just a buzzword for something that will NEVER happen. You can define in anyway you want. The purpose of those buzzwords or fear-mongering....etc is to convince gullible investors to part with their money. As for Academia, many people who are involved in that now see Gold on the other side and for most the purpose is not to join an OpenAI-type company for the scale and more of the same at scale but more like for the financial rewards to be had in this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most. This bubble will burst once the realisation that AI models, very useful tools, can and do neither understand nor reason, they simply do statistical maths and surface patterns, as useful as that may be, everything will go back to normal.

This talk is very prescient, given the latest US elections. MAGA and Trump are back in power and could topple the very institutions that brought them there.

Real problem is the people pushing the climate change mantra are the ones who stand to gain the most from pushing the agenda. The Apostle Paul said “...love of money is the root of all evil” in his first letter to Timothy in the New Testament of the Bible. The phrase is usually shortened to “money is the root of all evil,” but it's important to note that the original quote refers to the love of money as a potential source of evil, not all money or wealth. Paul was a businessman who owned a tent making business, he wasn't writing against money or saying that people shouldn't desire to acquire wealth. He was warning that the real problem is the desire for money which can disguise (dress up) and amplify / expand the real problem and people who make making money are living a lie and using it to serve themselves ... for their own wealth and power. If these people were not being rewarded for their efforts (pushing the climate agenda) would they be pushing false narratives. Climate change is not the chicken little / Oh help me I am falling off a cliff issue but an issue / another issue to deal with honestly and directly put the bullshit and stop showing "model results which forecast hundreds of years in the future therefore can't be verified. I have PhD and MBA honors University of Chicago Booth school therefore I demand scientific rigor. I support taking care of the climate let's not allow long term forecasts provide the answers and incentives.

36:00 This exists in Colombia; they call it 'voto en blanco,' or white vote. Unfortunately, it applies to lower-level elections rather than the president.

I don’t think I’ve seen a video of Brennan (and I’ve seen many) where he talks so much about epistocracy without mentioning it explicitly. I wonder if that’s a calculated decision for marketing reasons to make the idea more palatable for people.

Support for the radical right in Europe is only growing. In some countries it's well over 30% now. It's only a matter of time before we win. )ews like Ziblatt hope that they can outlast us by continuing to flood our countries with their human bioweapons from the Global South, but they've been boiling the frog a bit too fast. Europeans are noticing things and )ews are beginning to panic.

Dennoch interessanter Vortrag, vielen Dank fürs Teilen.
