New Moon turns 15 today! I remember i saw it together with my sisters Jeanne Cara Jennifer Cara’s friend Mara and her mom at my mall on Black Friday This was still one of my favorite movies of 2009 So despite the harsh critical reception the film still broke box office records With this story it’s more about about a limited time frame worrying about Bella fading away, aging, and withering Bella is at her darkest moment here hence the title being in a darker lunar period of life I do still enjoy this better than the first film Theres plenty of religious angles and some beautiful cinematography of reds next to brown as well as imagery particularly a burning heart of desire in flames I’m still a big fan and not a hater, I didn’t want to groan every time I saw ads or someone brought it up in conversation After all I did collect a lot of the merchandise too I understand why fans and critics have issue with these films; the acting isn’t great and the dialogue is beyond cheesy With this one most will take issue with the long running time, claiming this story is bad, and the line readings being terrible like soap opera level There’s so much in the book that’s just dialogue exchange not leaving enough room to visualize what’s going on And I won’t lie that the CGI on the werewolves is kinda terrible But I love the mythology, the attractive cast members, plus it brought a lot of ladies in theaters It also serves as eye candy for the female gaze mainly with plenty of shirtless guys to gawk at (you can count on preteen girls and moms getting into it) ‘New Moon’ was much more of an emotional roller coaster They definitely amped up the production value this time around with a love triangle, the Wolf Clan and the ever-present theme of Romeo & Juliet I like the direction of the movie, the score definitely adds some momentum, I didnt think the dialogue was terrible I did bond with my dad watching all of these movies despite him finding a lot of things that were just silly There are missteps for sure and a majority of male viewers will not be on board but this is strictly for the fans It also ends on quite a cliffhanger for future installments

I have sucha rush of nostalgia towards 2008 till 2011. Things got better short during 2016 and 2017 but aything else just sucks honestly.
