I haven't done this since the Server 2008 days with Win 7, and now I'm deploying Win 11. Yours has been the most helpful, straight forward video. Thank you.

Danny - I don't seem to be able to apply a policy to either "Administrators" or "Domain Administrators", what am I missing? THX in advance.

Just a quick note: this did work for me, but not on the first restart. I had to restart the PC a couple times for the changes to come into effect. Seems to have done the trick however as looking in resource monitor shows no cores parked after following the video. Cheers

Thank you! quick question, is it possible (best practice) to have multiple path referrals from the same server? client side I'm restricted to one active path at a time. Is this normal behaviour?
@SK1162 күн бұрын
Very good explanation. Simple and easy. I was trying to setup my lab, but after configuring everything when tryn to connect with iscsi target from initiator getting error Service unavailable I double checked the initiator service. It's running and set to automatic. After checking events It says iscsiprt error event id 10 Something with login request failed. Restarted servers twice. Can't seem to figure out what went wrong

Question, Static records are those that have been manually added right? Meaning if you have a computer set up with a static IP address that wont mean that a static record entry will be created in DNS right? Are both of those actions independent from one another?
@danny_moran4 күн бұрын
That's correct. If you give a device a static ip address, the network card will still register a standard record in DNS. The record will only show as static if someone has created the record within the DNS management console. Thanks for watching!

Does the domain controller need to be on same network/subnet as the computers?
@danny_moran10 күн бұрын
No, the domain controller can be on a different network or subnet to the computers. As long as there is routing between the networks and computers can communicate with the domain controllers, then it will work. Thanks for watching!

This really should've been added as an accessibility options and not some regedit cmd black magic that I'd have to take a leap of faith with, especially when that directory and gibberish string of letters and numbers don't mean anything to the average users. Much appreciated for the fix.

@6:19 - why not fully configure DNS at this point with: - auto cleanup - reverse records

There is no reason why you can't. I plan on doing a full DNS guide at some point. This guide just covers the basics of getting a domain working. Thanks for watching!

Can you do a full MCSA series of videos for Windows Server 2025 core only???
@fbifido211 күн бұрын
also do one for the GUI as well ???

I think MCSA has been retired now by Microsoft. I don't think I can create guides which cover everything, but, I'm going to try and cover a lot. Thanks for watching!

Great and informative video. Quick question though - in your example the printer didn’t actually exist. Now that you’ve set up the printer and driver in the server, if you were to physically connect the printer via Ethernet, would the server just automatically detect it and the user would then be able to actually print to it? Or is there another step involved? Thanks!
@danny_moran10 күн бұрын
Yes, if I connected a printer which supported the driver that I used and gave it the same IP address then it would just work. I use this method frequently when we order new printers so I can get the driver and print queue setup and deployed before the printer has even arrived. When the printer arrives, it just needs connecting to the network and given a static IP address and then (hopefully) it just works. Thanks for watching!

Nice! Quick question, for your test envirnment, do you just use Hyper V with some VMs running or do you use Proxmox or something else? Also, do you have a spare PC for this environment or do you have a physcial host you do this all on?
@danny_moran10 күн бұрын

When you update the original file, then the new config should be applied when BgInfo next refreshes. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be. Thanks for watching!

I want to state that I think you need a domain controller to get WDS working. Because you need to be a part of a domain to configure the WDS server.
@danny_moran10 күн бұрын
You can use this without a domain controller. In my example, it is setup on a domain network, but can be used without. Thanks for watching!
