Just got into whittling/wood carving as a hobby after finding a great walking sticking on a hike in the Appalachian mountains. Now find myself asking family members to carve their sticks for them haha. Attempting my first spiral pattern/design on a walking stick. Fingers crossed!

Ms. McGowan, you just made my day, ma'am! I've watched countless videos on how to do this and none of them took the time to explain how you actually go from a solid spiral to the hollow spiral. I know your video is more than 5 years old and I pray you are still carving and maintaining your channel here because you have some timeless information on it. Thank you so much and have a great day from NE Texas!

I'm glad to hear from you so quickly. Quilting? I find that interesting. My wife and I used to travel and we would look for roadside stands selling quilts. Over the years I imagine we've accumulated 50+ quilts. I would love to see some of your work. Our little town of Gilmer hosts a state fair in October of every year and there's always a Quilting contest. Some go for several thousand dollars.

@TammyMcGowan2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Its easier to start with wood that is flat and 3/8” inch thick. You can order knife scales from wood craft. Be careful to get wood. They also have a different kind thats much harder. Cherry would be a good choice for a first attempt. Because the exotic woods are very much harder woods. www.woodcraft.com/categories/knife-scales

@@CousinJennie You could contact this wood craft supplier in Adelaide Australia and ask him. I believe he ships all over Australia He could best recommend which Australian woods might work best. It does need to be a hard wood. Its easier to work from flat wood that is already 3/8” inch thick. Wood knife scales are usually a good option to start from. I hope this information helps. www.ottotimber.com.au/
