Mike was my father-in-law, and personal Locksmith mentor. He taught me everything he knew and turned me into the Locksmith I am today. Locksmith Video School was always a family run small business. Michael Gibson passed away September 2018, due to suicide. It was a very devastating hard time for our family, we know he is with the Lord now and pray his soul rests in peace. His widowed wife is now under my care and is a cornerstone of my young family's life. His Legacy lives on now at Locksmith Trade Academy. My name is Christian, and I have founded Locksmith Trade Academy to follow in his steps. Keeping his name alive and continuing the Legacy he left behind in teaching people the art of Locksmithing. Mike trained me in 2013 and I have been a working Locksmith ever since. All of Mike's videos continue to be provided, while new high quality training videos of mine are also included at Locksmith Trade Academy. I am dedicated to providing a real world value to people that are having a hard time finding quality training. Mike lived and died by this ethos and I will do the same. Your one time enrollment fee gives you online access to all available videos as well as any future uploads. We continue to be a family run small business. If you are interested in being trained as a Locksmith, we would be honored to teach you. Go to: locksmithvideoschool.com OR locksmithtradeacademy.com

You don’t have to break the set screw if you can’t pick it…there are two bypasses that actuate the cam. One uses a wire inserted into the key way, another uses a small hook slid up beside the bolt to grab the actuator. Bosnian Bill and LPL have both shown these bypasses in detail.

now you refer to a metal door, sheet metal likely... where is there any thickness to run a tap into ? machine screws are not made for sheet metal doors, unless there are specific reinforcing inserts of sufficient thickness for machine fastener threads sufficient purchase or rotational surface, at least you covered yourself with the correct way to do it with sex bolts.

@@melbeasley9762 Residential may not be of interest to you, but there are many other areas you can specialize in. You can do automotive, or safe work, office locks are different (IDK about the UK) they are typically SFIC which is dead simple to rekey, store fronts are really easy as well. Don't worry too much about not being good at picking, it's honestly such a small part of my business. I have many other bypass techniques that I go to first. You will get better at everything as you do it more consistently. I was concerned about going out on my own as well, but I'm really glad that I did.

Is this a good profession for an introvert? I tried insurance and hated cold calling and door knocking. I also tried the vending business, and would pay vending locators to find me locations, that worked, but eventually I got out of that line of work. Now I push supermarket carts, I'm happy with my job, but I think my lack of self-promotion is keeping me stuck at my current position. Is it worth it to work for a locksmith company as an employee?

@@That-Dude One time, I hurt my hand and had to spend the whole day making keys at Home D. I was standing by my key machine, when my manager saw me and told me that wasn't good enough, that instead, I should approach every customer and ask if they need help with anything. That makes me extremely uncomfortable. It's OK if they approach me, but I don't like talking to people unless I have to.
