Inverted doubles followed by inverted Paradiddle. Ralphie juniors.

Well… It looks like an inverted double paradiddle with a flam on the first note 😂 Okay, what is it? I give up.

We know you can go fast. The people clicking on rudiment videos could probably use more of a breakdown of the pattern. I know you did one but I would recommend showing the pattern even slower and for longer. Imo Thanks for the video.

What I love about Garstka is that he's pushing metric modulation to such an incredible and musical degree, that most people have no idea what they're hearing, but they like it. For those of us that do, it's pure inspiration for next level performance.

this isn't a slam but i categorize this style as "magic trick" drumming and songwriting. there's an inherent stiffness and inhumanity to it because it's all based on memorized, written riffs that intentionally clash and synchronize and ta da somehow come together. it's like an intentional uncanny valley. I'm fascinated by it because I've spent a lifetime avoiding this but i love it because it is the exact opposite of how i've approached songwriting where the cues are from melody, not myriad "drum riffs" strung together. when transcribing something like monomyth I can play every single part but cannot resolve it as one entire string of pieces. truly inspiring. my current exercise is to take the transcription and 8th note hihats with snare on 2 and the last beat of the pulse with bassdrum on 1. even only that is a challenge!

Just purchased DW 9000 XF out the box that pedal feels stiff. I don’t know rather to tighten it or make it loose. But something as to be done. I can’t get any funky double out of it. Song example like cameo strange. And I need to bounce backwards and forward to Rock songs with speed. I don’t know what to do with this
@DocsPracticeRoom5 ай бұрын
I would suggest loosing the tension until the spring has no more tension and then start tightening until minimal tension is on the spring. Start there

Anyone know which loop this is? Or if he has it in one of his packs? I know the second one is Trinity

Space breaks up that linear thing, also mixing the subdivions.... So much more musical, like the way we speak. He have a conversation, your imotions are felt by the way you speak...you speak out of passion, you dont sound mom tone or robotic...same as drumming

Man... Im not a great drummer but I did drum for many years. This guy is just screamin' on that set bro. Singing his heart out. For anyone that isn't a drummer... it can be super magical. You don't even have to be anywhere near this insanely solid to get a beautiful feeling. As a drummer I just know, when his head is swirling or some of that 7 5 switchup in the second song... dude is feeling like he is spiraling into heaven. Shit. I think I gotta start drumming again.

I like this video. I'm also looking for both more control and speed. Every "speed" vid I've watched immediately tell ya max tension. You've went through your journey, and explained how the different tensions have helped you. I've been switching back and forth, but max tension has been tough to control. I'm going to slowly start from loose until it fee feel right. Thanks
@DocsPracticeRoom5 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Drumming is filled with trail and error moments. Keep at until it feels right and gives you what you need.

As amazing as MAtt is, I wonder if he has ever tried playing a lefty set
@alexfanning5857 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure he does open handed drumming on occasion, it helps a ton. Wouldn't shock me if he could acclimate himself to a lefty kit with a small amount of time, he probably recognizes that the ability to get used to different setups is important anyways.
