@windyfishing9563Ай бұрын
Generally I stick to 2.5 sizes.

Would a size three work or is it too big and sinks too quickly
@windyfishing9563Ай бұрын
@@vickykork7910 Yes, it will work. It will sink quickly but you can still make it work by controlling the sink rate a bit. Maybe try a slow roll of the jig back instead of letting it sink and whipping it like I do?

Well, you can catch them off the beach. But not in the method I used here. Better off targeting them with beachworms or pipis I would suggest.

I assume you mean the rod I am using for the Drummer and not the ISO rod? The Drummer rod is a Shimano Speedmaster 10', 3 to 6kg rod. Its a bit undergunned for Drummer but I like fishing light.

Cut the big sinker down to a number 3 ball sinker a Jew will just drop that sinker when they feel the weight. If I have to fish a spot for Jew that requires a bit of weight I make my own sinners and use 3 mil tig filler rods to make the holes that way the line can flow through the holes better

Just came back from a couple of weeks a little further south of Tathra. Beautiful spot with lots of schools of big salmon. Great fat fish that I’m gonna say were up to 5 kilos! Normally catch and release, but took a mate who said they were good on the chew. Kept a few that he bled, prepped, blood line cut out and filleted. Fried in a simple beer batter and no lie they were as good any other fish I’ve tried from the fish and chip shop!

Nice work Brian, 5kg is fair old lump of a Salmon! I recently tried some a Sashimi, surprisingly good!

@@windyfishing9563 average probably 2-3 kg which is a great fish for a Victorian! But a couple were as a long as my leg holding them from the tail and fat…dropped many more than I landed too. Interestingly blue surf poppers on average got hit 4-1 when compared to pilchard baits (paternoster with surf popper and ganged pillie) Lure fishing was a fish a cast when a school came through but hard work when the y moved in. Such an under valued fish. Love sashimi so will have to try it next time.

Go at low tide and you'll spot them. Usually best to fish them 1½ ours either side of low tide, and preferebly sunrise you'll get good whiting and flathead.

Also reading the waves will help you see where the gutters are. Go during daylight at low tide and you'll see how the water behaves around the gutters
