Stop judging stuff for what they are not. If you want it to have some other things/features, you can always request and hope it will come or get another device that can do it. I recently bought the portal just because of cloud streaming. At home, I cant play much. Thx to portal, I use my phone hotspot and I've been playing every day at work. A bunch of games I haven't played. I'm enjoying myself.

The only reason I bought a portal over steam deck is because I need a portable experience of dreams ps4. Hopefully the upcoming Playstation portable system can play atleast digital ps4 games

Just got it a few days ago... my daughter loves it.. She's 2. I tried it myself and was super impressed.. I debated updating to premium but if it wasn't for the portal I woulda NEVER went to premium membership. So I think that was the job of the portal

Bro. What some people want is they want to play in different places with limited internet. Not saying they don't need internet but once you buy games dl it and finish the update they can play it offline. Maybe that will be the confusion of others.Hope the upcoming PS handheld should be like the portal looks with a bit bigger screen long battery life, ssd storage and games should be purchased online.

Can you just play the portal with the current games that’s downloaded onto the PlayStation 5 without having the 17.99 monthly subscription? Just got mine in the mail yesterday and don’t know much about it.

I think it’s awesome, also a big selling point I don’t think others get. I have an Xbox but with cloud gaming I gladly paid 200 for the portal and 100 for a years worth of games. Without having a ps5. Now I’m considering one so I can play more games remote lol

The problem is a phone does way better job than thr portal does. The hunger of people wanting a PSP is allowing this CAP towards the portal. If we real we know is not as great as everyone hype it up to be.

This is a common misconception actually, the Portal does not stream via the internet, if you're using it within your own network, then the entire stream remains within your local network. It's only if you're streaming from a different network where internet is used, and even then it still doesn't stream via Sony's servers, it just uses their server to get the IP address to connect directly to your PS5 at home. I have a video here on YT demonstrating this by using remote play without an active internet connection.

I just got Ghost of Tsushima on Steam sale, played 1 hour on the laptop with an Xbox Elite 2 controller in my hand, then continued in bed on the Steam Deck. That is crazy! A PS exclusive and didn't even have to touch a Sony device. Next Steam deck is going to be nuts, Nintendo Switch better watch out lol 😂

My set up is in the living room, so either way I’m on the couch in the living room whether on console or playing that. I ended up selling my portal. Here’s why. It’s possible I just got a dud, but mine was ALWAYS disconnecting from my PS5. No matter if I was in the house on my WiFi or out and about on my hotspot. Yes, my PS5 is hardwired and averages about 750-850 speeds. Tried it at a hotel twice as well and it wouldn’t even connect to my PS5. Again, it’s possible I just got a dud, but mine didn’t work well at all. So I just stuck with my Steamdeck.

Even though I recently got the Pro at launch in November I got the ps portal a couple months after its release and even several months ago before some of the newer updates I still appreciated it as a remote player. I always respected it for what it was and didn’t disrespect it for what it wasn’t. I agree that I feel like it’s a stepping stone to a full blown handheld console like a successor to the Vita. I love the ps portal and always believed in what it was even when it was completely trashed on.

Love my portable but that beta n games cloud suck n we can't I streamed a game on beta cloud n my lady was playing on my account on the actual PS5 console n it kicked her out of her game so I could stream the game I was tryna play n that alone sucks

It’s made to be a portable. If I can’t use it to be outside without WiFi as a portable it is garbage . Comparing it to tech or devices you use home was an L . The switch I don’t need no WiFi , no subscription, no nothing

PS Portal is 🗑️, I bought a Asus Rog Ally love it, can play my Xbox games and Emulate games from N64, 3DS, Xbox 360, PS1,PS2, and Sega Gensis & Dreamcast.

If you say the portal is trash, you don’t have one. Period! Everybody I’ve shown the portal too has went and bought one. It’s that good! I love it!

I think the portal is much better now then it was at launch. That being said, I still prefer using my oled steam deck to stream my ps5 mainly because it enables the ps5’s hdr, it has a better connection, and while the portals latency is improved since launch, the deck still does it better. All that being said the oled steam deck is much more expensive and i dont recommend it just to STREAM games. the portal has a PERFECT price tag in my opinion when it comes to just streaming games… not once did i ever think it was too expensive.
