Folding it Alaskan pipeline style is significantly faster and deploys exactly the same. That method forever changed how I fold the baker load as we call it in Tennessee.

So, it looks like it can only be deployed with 2 guys for confined space. I am trying to imagine how to deploy this at a structure fire with short lawn. Looks like this load must be fully pulled to one side or another before you can charge it.

So many have gone to minute man which I do like. But don’t underestimate the ease of the Triple. Just make sure your back man pulls a coupling to the front door so u have 50’

I tried to count the number of lengths of 1 3/4 hose you use in your preconnect. Also, do you pack half on the front side and then go to the back of that individual bed? I believe this only enables you to come off one side of the engine? The other bed would be set for the other side I assume?

The way we bed ours after the first two passes we swap over from one side to the other every layer in the middle of the bed. Your mileage may vary depending on bed width and if you run a pony section or not.

phil lamonica what fire department pays their firemen $300,000 a year? Maybe you are confused because 30-40k a year is about average starting pay and it is rare that a chief officers pay ever exceeds 6 figures. Unless you work within a community that has a very high cost of living.

That contraption to connect two hoses into one. We call that a dividing breaching is now obsolete here in uk....Why? because is dangerous..Say your sending high pressure volume down the larger supply hose then dividing it into two usable pressure smaller hoses with a man on each....If for any reason one man shuts down or hose traps...then all hell happens,,,now you have one man on a smaller hose getting the full power of the larger hose also amplified by the smaller hose now getting the higher pressure.This will send him flying even Injure him..and a line out of control...We tried it at our station for trainees...All this hose deployment you use is so slow...hoses het tangled. We roll our hoses and have snap push joints...none of this screw type. Why are you still using the old canvas hoses...geeeees we have not seen them sinse the eary 1960s
@chrisj9008
@chrisj9008 7 жыл бұрын
allan x we operate at much lower pressures and higher volumes here in the US. Often times we are only running 50psi nozzle dicharhe pressures. We often try to balance the hose lengths which further helps. We also will often run automatic nozzles to deal with ranging pressures.
@chrisj9008
@chrisj9008 7 жыл бұрын
allan x also, those are not actually canvas hoses. Just search any of the main hose builders (key hose combat ready, Mercedes hose). You done see as much of the snap tite/storz connectors as you use because most of our lines are preconnected, and the snap fittings end up being much wider which complicates packing and deployment. Both systems have merit. We use the snap fittings at time in the wildland world often. Also out construction is quite different. I am very familiar with Rosenbauers high pressure systems and have used them extensively. Much of construction favors the lower pressure higher flow systems.

Same load that my department uses. When loading it though, we take that last loop and put it through the bail, as to make it easier to pull the loop and the nozzle. However, it really depends on whether your using inch, inch and three quarters, two inch, etc.

We use these and yes they flow cafs well. You will loose some bubble structure but if you loose air or foam you at least have an effective fire stream. Without cafs, foam and water only they make a nice low expansion foam that is very impressive. I am all about overwhelming the btus of a fire. This nozzle does that well. You get great flows through a controllable nozzle. You will loose some reach of a smooth bore but how much reach do you really need for most fires. We easily through the streams 100ft.

Great video. I'd also like to recommend Auto-Out Venthood. These devices are little canisters that go directly inside your venthood over the stove (they magnetize). They work when flame activated so they help curb fires that start from unattended cooking, the number one cause of cooking fires. Find them at auto-out.com

Here in the UK we have a hose reel, same principle as a quick attack hose but a hose reel is a lot more easier to deploy and put back, it is essentially a garden hose only roughly 500 times more powerful and is a lot longer (around 100 to 150 Meters long) there is always water Inside the hose so even if you haven't ran it all out you can still use it, it hasn't got as much punch as the main jet as its built for only 1 man whereas the main jet is built for 2-3 men but its perfect for quick attacks and as we have 2 of these on each appliance it only takes 2 minutes to hook them together to make a 300 Meter long hose

That lay deploys nice. I'd rather use a 100ft 1 3/4 front bumper hose for a vehicle fire on the expressway. This way nobody has to walk behind the truck into oncoming traffic.

would you be able to do this load with it sitting in the crosslay bed sitting on top and attached to either a 100 or 200 foot flat load? would that be efficient or even practical? just wondering out of curiosity because in my department it seems hard enough to get our officers to embrace something different that's been done for years by surrounding departments, let alone something that's relatively new.

All available hose should be stretched toward the nozzle before the line is charged... You can get quick water but the line will be slow to advance.
@ffjsb
@ffjsb 11 жыл бұрын
Not if you leave the top fold sticking out a few inches on the officer's side. You'd just have the top fold to extend once all the hose is out of the bed.

A straight lay might be better for YOUR dept., but it is in no way faster or simpler than a triple lay. And it is just fine for any amount of firefighting. (which has NOTHING to do with a hose lay anyway) The hose load you use should suit the type of buildings, setbacks, and tactics you use. But no load is easier or faster to deploy than a triple load. It's almost fireman proof, you really have to try to screw it up.

Bad lay... Strait lay is more effective and simple but not as nice looking as the triple.. Nice if you don't fight a lot of fire and are concerned about the aesthetics but not good for our departments application.. Nicely composed video though
