I can’t believe they just cut off the series without a proper conclusion. How rude! I only just saw this series on Prime video. And boom! Both women over the cliff and nothing!

The best speach ever, and the reality is every word was true. The industry that has gone from this country is frightening.

I was born the year after this film was made. From being John and Julie's age, about 1966, this country has become almost unrecognisable. I know distance lends enchantment, but to me, it seems a far more stressed, crowded and materialistic place!

As an American I love the British series I got really hooked in it because of the location. I wanting to actually visit Derbyshire sometime next year but the way the writers ended the series was pathetic. I will go back and American westerns where the good guys always win.

This has to be one of the best films ever. But being a Yorkshireman been brought up in the 60s and 70s i might be a bit biased.

From all the info I can gather, the cast were shocked at no further seasons so with that in mind I would assume Alex would have survived to fight another day but Claire died. The series which followed it died on it's ass, Peak practice deserved at least one more season.

Yes. And now, 11 years later, we see what the bloody tories are doing to the Working Man's Joy - the NHS. Soon be all private insurance, or if you can't pay, we'll take your house, just like in the old days. We may not be able to trust the Socialists/ Labour, but, by heck, the Tories are stealing or worth and self-respect from under our noses on the name of Profit for the Investors.

Great film, shame it got spoilt at the end with the speech against the conservatives. Most people will not know that more pits were closed under Labour than any other governments!!!

What a tribute to the British Brass Bands and the Community's that were effected by the mine closures. In a similar fashion the middle class in the States took it on the chin by a similar type of Administration and the middle class has become non-existant.

That's Maggie O'Neill as Alex, not Saskia Wickham, who played Erica Matthews. Still, what a lame way to end what was a great show, got far fetched in the end and far removed to what it was like at the start with doctors Jack, Beth, Will, Andrew, Erica, David, Joanna, Sam, etc.

They could've had at least a better ending to this show. I just discovered it a few months back and got hooked but was a bit disappointed how they ended it. It was probably the worst endibg of any show I've watched ever. Anyway.

Totally agree! I watched the show from beginning to end. It had interesting characters w good storylines. Even when a main character left n someone new came in, it infused the show with a new n different feel, whike keeping it at a high standard...until the end scene. What a horrible way to end it, you just dont do that!! Im not sure of behind the scenes goings-on, did the show expect to continue on but was cancelled after this aired? So not right for the fans who stuck with it thru the entire series run to have it end like this. Never see anything like it on any other program.
