I’m a fellow Aussie, now living in Canada. Here’ a tip for you…. Minimize Solid Deodorant by putting it into a Lip Balm Stick: I like solid deodorant but for travel it’s too big (and the travel size ones are a waste of money because they really don’t have much deodorant in them and they’re still bulky). So I cut off a chunk of deodorant from my large deo stick (or better yet, when your deodorant stick is nearly finished there is always some stuck in the bottom - scrape that out and use it). Put the deodorant chunk into a glass jug or container and microwave it 10 seconds at a time until it’s melted. Then get an old lip balm stick or Kids glue stick (that has been *thoroughly cleaned out*) and pour the melted deodorant into it (work quickly as it will start to solidify fast!). Then place it in the freezer to hasten/finalize the solidification. After a few minutes, the deodorant will become completely solid & ready to use as you normally would use your larger deodorant. So I have a lip balm container that is *Thumb sized (4.8g)* full of deodorant that I always keep in my travel toiletries kit (which lasts me a long time!) But I also carry a tiny lip balm container the size of *1/2 of my pinky finger length (2g)* for my purse that I use at home/work (which I also use in my airplane toiletries kit if I go on a long haul flight). You’ll be surprised how much a small lip balm sized deodorant lasts….its all you need for a few week trip. Enjoy your trip!

Nice one M&M. I like the use of time lapse, changing what would normally be a boring video to something more exciting especially with unusual patterns like seen the prop wash. Do the tub boats remain connected until the boat is outside (or near) the heads, just in case something goes wrong? Or were they in for a bit of a ride!
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt19 күн бұрын
Hi Brooke. Yes, time lapse is pretty cool., the tugs were with us until we hit the heads. It was quite windy, so I suspect they were there to also ensure we navigated safely out.

me, again. I've heard you mention that you're cruelty free and I so love to find others who think like I do. From the animals, thank you! But I'm wondering if you can help me with brands...ie: what brand of makeup remover oil wipes, cleansing wipes, etc do you find that are cruelty free? I noticed in the graphics you used neutrogena, but are they cruelty free? I'm not challenging. I'm genuinely looking for advise. PS. I'm IN LOVE with your jewelry! I'm such a fool for pearls!
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt24 күн бұрын
You're right, Neutrogena isn't (as far as I'm aware) cruelty-free. I don't actually use those wipes but I needed some individually wrapped ones as an example in my graphic (and ebook). I had a collection from various places - hotels, samples received as GWP from Sephora etc. But I've run out and I was searching this week for some to buy that are individually wrapped and CF but I couldn't find any. So I bought some Burt's Bees ones in a big packet and put a few in a zip lock bag. Hopefully they'll retain their moisture - I find the packet ones dry out because I only use them when flying, I use a cream cleanser when I have a sink I can wash in. I was tempted to buy the Neutrogena but when I think about the testing that non-CF implies I couldn't do it! Thanks for the compliment on my jewellery! Michael bought me the necklace and bracelet set for a significant birthday and I love them ❤️ Have fun planning your Amsterdam/Sweden trip, I'd love to go there, I haven't spent a lot of time in mainland Europe. Thanks for saying you pray it's successful and lucrative, I'm not making money yet, it's a long way off at this point! Have a fantastic day!!

Hey lovely!! Fellow Australian here 😇 I agree 100% about going solids for environmental reasons. Almost everything I use now comes in solid form! Which is easy both at home and also when travelling. 🤗 I have a locally made shampoo bar and conditioner bar for fine, blonde hair. I also have a locally made solid moisturising bar which can be used as body lotion, hand cream and even face moisturiser and lip balm! The key is choosing a bar that doesn’t have any artificial fragrance, or very high concentrations of aromatherapy oils, if you want to use it on your face. I do, and it works perfectly! If you’re unsure, choose fragrance-free… 💖 I also have a solid sunscreen bar made by the same lady who makes my solid moisturising bar. It’s DIVINE. It’s enriched with nourishing butters like shea, cocoa, jojoba oil, avocado oil, and then red raspberry oil and coconut oil for sun protection, as well as non-nano zinc oxide. I use this for my face in the morning (doubles as both moisturiser and sunscreen), as well as on my hands and any skin exposed to the sun during the day. Then I use my non-sunscreen bar as my night cream, hand cream and foot cream before bed. I have a solid cleansing bar which doubles as a mild exfoliant. Very gentle on sensitive skin. I have used a solid serum bar as both serum and eye “cream” (serum!) but the price for it is outside my budget for now so I’m on a liquid serum temporarily. I will return to the solid serum when finances permit! The solid conditioner can double as shaving cream… it gives just the right amount of slip on the legs. I do take a separate lip balm when travelling despite both my sunscreen bar and moisturising bar being up to the task, just because having a tiny one in my handbag is smaller, easier and less messy than handling a bar on the go! And that’s my entire skincare regime! Cleanser (with gentle exfoliant), serum, moisturiser/sunscreen [/hand cream], lip balm. The solid conditioner is also great as a leave-in conditioner when my hair is a little dry. My favourite makeup brand (Senegence) isn’t solid sadly, but it seriously stays put for over 12hrs and is waterproof (all of it, foundation to eyeshadow to mascara and eyeliner to lip colours), so there’s no need to touch up during the day. Meaning I hardly use any of it even on a three month trip wearing makeup daily! So I sacrifice some liquids bag space for those small vials. Every colour can be worn everywhere on the face so a lip colour can also be blush, a neutral brown eyeshadow can do brows and contouring, and a light eyeshadow can be highlighter. This way, I take three lip colours that can double as cheek colours (could also be worn on the eyes if one likes coloured shadows), all of which can be mixed or layered for custom colours… and a “highlighter” and “brow shade”, which can do eyes in various ways by layering and mixing too. A lip gloss is needed as the top coat for the lip colours so altogether that makes 6 small tubes of colour, plus a mascara and eyeliner, and foundation. As a super pale gal, I haven’t found a good solid foundation, and powder is too dry for my dry skin. The Senegence CCTM is glorious, and has sunscreen in it, but the price for how much I use adds up. So right now I’m LOVING the Rituelle De Fille serum foundation drops (1 drop for tinted moisturiser coverage, 2 drops for medium coverage and 3 drops is literally FULL coverage! It’s insane!!!). For travel, I usually take a tiny tube of Dermacol, which is almost solid and doesn’t count as a liquid. FULL coverage, it can mix with a moisturiser to thin the consistency to one’s desired coverage. Anyway, that’s me! Thanks for encouraging people to think differently with their skin and haircare! I have used shampoo and conditioner bars for YEARS and I actually prefer them to liquids. It’s of course a matter of finding the right formulation for your hair. There are as many variations of shampoo bars as there are shampoos! The same thing goes for solid moisturisers/sunscreens… finding something your skin loves. I find with very fine skin, anything with a lot of wax in it sits too heavily on my skin (mostly hands, which ends up annoying me when my hands are greasy and I want to use them for something!), and very rich butters take a while to absorb. So I find the body butter bars that have almost no wax, and more oils than butters, are a lighter formula and absorb better into the skin. That’s just my preference! 🥰 I hope everyone finds something they’re happy with. As mentioned in the video, the bars last a LONG time. I wash my hair twice a week too, and my shampoo bars last about 3 years. When I travel, I tend to cut it into quarters! Any smaller than that they tend to crumble… Love to all!! 💝🌷😘 Lilaeia.

If I could ❤ this more than once I would! Thanks Lilaeia, some fantastic info here. I'd love to know where you get your locally made bars and I love the sound of that sunscreen one. And your ability to pack light is GOALS!! I'm going to check out Senegence as well! One of my problems with converting to solids is that I have a built up stash from a skincare obsession a few years ago so I have to use up everything on hand before I will permit myself to buy new stuff. So in the meantime I'm making a list (and checking it twice haha)...

Thank you Marni for the information. I am a similar age to you and I get anxious going through security. It took me ages to realise that the hardest part of travel is the airport! You can upgrade your flight and other experiences if you want to but there's no getting away from the airport stuff unfortunately. I find that planning ahead helps me feel less flustered but it still happens from time to time, but when it does I make a mental note and try to work out a way to overcome it in future.

Hi Mardi! I love all the tips! For my family of 5, I put a post-it flag on the data page of each passport. Each person gets assigned a color. This helps save time at check-in, security and immigration. I store the passports and a pen in one ziplock bag and put the ziplock in a dedicated pocket in my personal item. If we need to travel between Australia and the US we need to bring both passports so I’ll have two ziplock bags.

You are 100% right about too many "essentials," often recommended by influencers, are not essential at all. I spent $100s of dollars on essentials and left many home because they wouldn't fit in my personal item. Many of the ones I took ended up unused, especially on an overnight flight.

Thank you. That was very informative. I live in Western Australia and will be flying to New York later this year. The trip is so long I haven't even added the time up. It seems too scary to think about. This video was so helpful. I am going to watch it again slowly and write down all your tips. I recently got the Bose NC head phones from FlyBuys and I haven't heard of Airfly before. I also didn't realise about all the adaptors that are needed. I will have to research this tech area further. I have never taken a computer but I will take my phone and hopefully I can access 4G or 5G reception.That is a good idea about changing clothing during the flight. It will be warm weather on departing and cold on arrival for me also.Thank you for all the tips on how to divide the different items up for the journey. I always seem to need something which happens to be stowed away in the overhead storage area and basically inaccessible. I have subscribed to your channel and will watch further content.

You say you change from leggings to pants and T-shirt and back. How do you change clothes on a plane?
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt2 ай бұрын
The dress I wear is pretty loose so I whilst at my seat I pull my arms in and use it like a tent to change the bottom half, then I get my arms back out, go to the toilet and change my top half. Or I do it all in the toilet. I can't put tights on on a plane though, I'm not coordinated enough to do that, so its always leggings, never tights. I used to wear tights in my younger days when I was a bit more agile!

I’m a nurse, and compression stockings are never a “what if” item. The American Heart Association recommends wearing compression stockings on any flight 4 hours or longer. This is to prevent blood clots, and you maybe surprised to know how often blot clots and pulmonary embolism occurs from not wearing them.
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt2 ай бұрын
That's a really important point. I think I've seen compression stockings that don't have feet, I will have to look into them. The few times I've used them I've definitely seen benefits in reduced swelling too.
