Thank you Marni for the information. I am a similar age to you and I get anxious going through security. I thought it was just me, however listening to your advice I now realise that it is a stressful area of the airport. I am going to be better prepared next time with better focus on what I am doing and not feeling flustered. Thank you so much for the tips.

Hi Mardi! I love all the tips! For my family of 5, I put a post-it flag on the data page of each passport. Each person gets assigned a color. This helps save time at check-in, security and immigration. I store the passports and a pen in one ziplock bag and put the ziplock in a dedicated pocket in my personal item. If we need to travel between Australia and the US we need to bring both passports so I’ll have two ziplock bags.

You are 100% right about too many "essentials," often recommended by influencers, are not essential at all. I spent $100s of dollars on essentials and left many home because they wouldn't fit in my personal item. Many of the ones I took ended up unused, especially on an overnight flight.

I've been enticed to buy so many things, I now try to be super realistic. It actually amazes me sometimes, the big, bulky products people are recommending! I know that it's really for the commission but I'd be ashamed to recommend something I didn't actually use myself

Thank you. That was very informative. I live in Western Australia and will be flying to New York later this year. The trip is so long I haven't even added the time up. It seems too scary to think about. This video was so helpful. I am going to watch it again slowly and write down all your tips. I recently got the Bose NC head phones from FlyBuys and I haven't heard of Airfly before. I also didn't realise about all the adaptors that are needed. I will have to research this tech area further. I have never taken a computer but I will take my phone and hopefully I can access 4G or 5G reception.That is a good idea about changing clothing during the flight. It will be warm weather on departing and cold on arrival for me also.Thank you for all the tips on how to divide the different items up for the journey. I always seem to need something which happens to be stowed away in the overhead storage area and basically inaccessible. I have subscribed to your channel and will watch further content.

It's really great to hear that, Jenny. It feels amazing when I think I've actually helped someone! Flying from Australia to anywhere is a challenge and from WA it must be even more of one sometimes. Regarding the computer - I only really take mine to do things like edit videos and write blogs - I'm a bit old school and can't handle doing those on the iPad for too long or it drives me mad!

You say you change from leggings to pants and T-shirt and back. How do you change clothes on a plane?
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt 25 күн бұрын
The dress I wear is pretty loose so I whilst at my seat I pull my arms in and use it like a tent to change the bottom half, then I get my arms back out, go to the toilet and change my top half. Or I do it all in the toilet. I can't put tights on on a plane though, I'm not coordinated enough to do that, so its always leggings, never tights. I used to wear tights in my younger days when I was a bit more agile!

I’m a nurse, and compression stockings are never a “what if” item. The American Heart Association recommends wearing compression stockings on any flight 4 hours or longer. This is to prevent blood clots, and you maybe surprised to know how often blot clots and pulmonary embolism occurs from not wearing them.
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt 25 күн бұрын
That's a really important point. I think I've seen compression stockings that don't have feet, I will have to look into them. The few times I've used them I've definitely seen benefits in reduced swelling too.

I have to say, this is great. A lot of tips which are invaluable. I am severely visually impaired and autistic with both audio and touch sensory overload so I find crowds both stressful and scary. Thankfully, I have a very understanding wife and together we plan everything to the last detail well in advance. An app I use on my iPhone called EnVision (for screen reader users it is spelled E N V I S I O N all one word), is great for finding my way around old ships which have small cabin number plates. Just feel for the plate, point your phone, and it will tell you where you are,. Another thing I use when exploring off board is a GoPro strapped to my head. I don’t mind looking stupid and it lets me sit 6 inches away from a latte screen TV at home and better enjoy some views I miss because I’m panicking about all the noise and people. Anyway, keep doing what you’re doing. I always say “if you help just one person, you are not wasting your time”, and if you get a chance, have a listen to my podcasts on ctruising with visual impairment. Thanks again and bye for now.

Thongs? As in bare feet? No. No. No.
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt Ай бұрын
Is it because your bare feet are still close to the disgusting toilet floor? Or because you don't like seeing other people's bare feet? If it's the first I'm yet to see such a swamp in the loo that it would wash over your thongs, if it's the second don't look - I don't like seeing other people's feet so I just avoid looking at them. And if exposing your feet on a plane make sure they aren't smelly! Ugh! I always get a pedicure before I go on a long flight just to make sure my feet won't be offensive.

A recent transatlantic red eye I used a Cabeaux neck pillow- game changer. I went for an aisle seat for the extra rest point. I made my own amenity pack which I took to the loo to do as near to my usual bedtime routine as possible. Then once I was done, I went back to my seat, got myself as comfy as possible- seat buckle visible over blanket- neck pillow, eye mask (concave pads on eyes), audio book I was really familiar with (so it felt like a bedtime story) set to run 45 minutes. And I was asleep before I knew it. I usually NEVER sleep on planes.
