You are 100% right about too many "essentials," often recommended by influencers, are not essential at all. I spent $100s of dollars on essentials and left many home because they wouldn't fit in my personal item. Many of the ones I took ended up unused, especially on an overnight flight.

I've been enticed to buy so many things, I now try to be super realistic. It actually amazes me sometimes, the big, bulky products people are recommending! I know that it's really for the commission but I'd be ashamed to recommend something I didn't actually use myself

I got sucked into buying a pricey passport wallet, and oh yeah, some "essential" travel items that 1. Did not fit my space, or 2. Never used. Thank you for sensible advice. I have dropped 4 lbs of stuff out of my packing. Donated and relieved all is gone. I changed to a backpacker mindset for my small carryon . Light weight, rssentials only.

It's a great feeling when you get rid of things and refine your packing to just what you need ❤️

Hi Mardi! I love all the tips! For my family of 5, I put a post-it flag on the data page of each passport. Each person gets assigned a color. This helps save time at check-in, security and immigration. I store the passports and a pen in one ziplock bag and put the ziplock in a dedicated pocket in my personal item. If we need to travel between Australia and the US we need to bring both passports so I’ll have two ziplock bags.

That is the best tip, I love it! I'm going to do that from now on. I carry both our passports when we travel together and the passport shuffle is always annoying. I'll probably mention it in a future video! Amazing!
