Thanks for sharing! I got some bad gas after the hurricane that came through and I noticed a surge/sputter immediately. It wasn't until the next day when the bike had a very hard time starting that I confirmed it. I refilled and now it's good as far as starting but I can still feel a slight boggyness here and there. Nothing a little seafoam can't fix like you said. I commute on mine everyday and will have to pick some up after work. Nice DR, great bikes.

@@diegolagrost3390 in the 1980’s the larger engines did burn a lot of oil. As long as it’s newer than a 1996 DR650, you can get as many as 80,000 miles (128,000 kilometers) before rebuilding. You may have to adjust the idle from the dealer, but these bikes are practically indestructible! dude, the higher octane fuel resists unwanted combustion from compression and heat. It should have no difference on combustion when the plug fires - except that it may have a better hydrocarbon mix. Premium fuels would normally be formulated to burn more completely.
@ComfyDadShoes
@ComfyDadShoes 3 ай бұрын
My theory with the octane is that the low compression won’t fully detonate the premium fuel during cylinder combustion, thus creating a power loss and mpg loss. Also, that some of the unburned fuels might have a delayed detonation in the exhaust chamber. I would be nervous to use a premium fuel if I increase the ratios. Suzuki recommends 87 in the manual, but your take makes sense as well.
@SomethinK
@SomethinK 3 ай бұрын
@@ComfyDadShoes That's not how it works. 87 MON (91 RON) is the minimum. Premium fuels often have a higher energy content and therefore better mileage. The advantages of higher octane can't be used on an engine that doesn't have an ECU that monitors O2, throttle position, knock, etc. and adjusts ignition timing for optimum torque production. Therefore, all of the benefits of premium can't be used in a DR, but it still gains from higher energy content and (often) a better additive pack which helps reduce carbon deposits. Just realised - I think the 87 is the average of MON & RON...

Bought a 2006 V Rod last year DUMBEST purchase I ever made From the lack of modifications, the fwd controls, suspension, EXTREME heat that comes off the exhaust. Thankfully, I was able to sell it to my son

@@RagnorLothbrook-f7e you pretty much nailed it when it comes to cons. I believe suspension travel is 2.3 inches 😬
