I actually LOVED the Jen chapter. As someone who was fresh out of a long term breakup Andy was infuriating to me, and I felt it refreshing and validating to read Jen’s POV.

Ann Enright is one of those authors on my want to read list, but never get around to actually picking up her books.

That's so interesting POV. It was my first Dolly book and my favorite part was Jen's! Maybe cause I wasn't so familiar with Dolly's writing I didn't quite pick up everything and I loved Jen's portion, it was so beautifully written and heart breaking, since I feel like I've been in her position as well.

The Wren, The Wren is a total masterpiece, the way Anne Enright wrote the Millennial voice in Nell’s sections was incredible! I DNF’d Soldier, Sailor and Nightbloom, but really want to read In Defence of the Act once I’ve finished Brotherless Night. my fav book of the year so far has been River East, River West - I don’t think it’ll win but I’m so happy I found that book through this year’s prize ♥️

Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently up to page 805 with the Count of Monte Cristo. Still got some way to go. Happy reading.

Would you like to rank your videos on KZbin? You can have a great channel with great conceptual videos. But as a beginner, it's really hard to get views and subs. That's why you have to promote your videos and optimize your videos. As well as beginner content creators, old creators too suffer because of perfect SEO. If you don't do optimization for your videos; you won't get your desired results. That's why I am here to help you.

Agree with your assessment of And The She Fell and Soldier Sailor, too similar for them both to make it, although they both are worthy of a spot.

I DNF’d Enter Ghost but that was mainly because I was a bit bored and up against the clock to return at the library. would still love to read In Defence of the Act, and swap Dolly Maunder for the Megan Nolan in the meantime! otherwise it’s a pretty perfect shortlist - The Wren, The Wren was incredible ♥️

Great response. I've only read one on the shortlist and was part way theough NB, which didn't make it.

The Wren The Wren had a slow start but I am halfway and enjoying it so far. I completely agree about In Defence of the Act being missing. I was so pleased it got longlisted though so it’s helped us find Effie Black. She balances the narrative so perfectly with knowledge and heart. My fave is obviously Brotherless Night. 📚🤩❤️

Absolutely with you on swapping Dolly for In Defence of the Act! I'm looking forward to getting to the rest of the shortlist, even though it means returning to two dnfs. Hopefully I am more in the mood for them now. ☺

so glad you enjoyed the Megan Nolan, it really is such a firecracker of a novel - loved it. I’ve DNF’d Dolly Maunder, Soldier Sailor (oops) and Nightbloom, namely because they had to go back to the library but also because I was so bored. I’m looking forward to Enter Ghost, River East, River West and Brotherless Night 📚♥️

I enjoyed The Maiden but I was surprised to see it on the long list as it’s a lot more commercial than the stuff that’s usually chosen! It was interesting to hear your thoughts on these, thanks for sharing ☺️💛

It was really nice to have something to break up the intellectual stuff (that I sometimes don't understand) with something that was just entertaining. It's my favourite thing about the prize, that there's usually something like that on there.

I had such good intentions with the longlist but ive only read one book and i didnt like it so now im put off 😂 this happened last year too! Gonna have to get my motivation back somehow. Definitely give a new location a go! It would be a lot of work but you can always change it back if you really dont like it ❤

the longlist is so rich and varied! I’m finding it hard to engage with the nonfiction prize, but I’m looking for the escapism of stories at the moment and don’t think my brain is processing nonfic like it usually would! lovely to see you and looking forward to seeing some more of your lovely home in the backdrops 🩷🌺

🌻 I think I know the book you're talking about being terrible on the women's prize longlist and I too didn't enjoy Hangman. Balancing life and youtube is hard. Good luck getting it sorted. 😊

Great wrap up. I think I had the wrong idea of the Luminaries, thought it was a female focused book. ah, well, it's been a while people talked about it. The lenght did a good job at putting it off my radar again and again :D

My mom read The Satanic Verses back when it came out (and it wasn't allowed in her country to own it), she said a lot of it references the Coran and that's why people were outraged even though he wasn't even criticizing it 🤔 I have yet to read it but I'd like to eventually! I've read other books by him and I guess you do need to know a little bit about the countries but overall it is mostly about the characters and their journeys. I'm glad you liked The Luminaries! I really need to pick it up from my TBR and read it sometime but I'm a mood reader and I follow the flow haha

Book lovers be ready. Ever lie, steal, used God's name as a curse word (O-M-G)? Still think your good? According to God's law, you're guilty. Wait, God loves you, he made a way out. God so loved the world that he gave his son that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Jesus died for you, believe & repent.

I think I may be addicted to predictions videos at this point, and I can’t wait to hear the list on Tuesday! We have a lot of predictions in common. I didn’t like Julia but I really think it will be nominated and everyone will like it more than me! Piglet sounds intriguing and for some reason wasn’t on my radar. Great choices! 😊📚
