I felt sorry for the poor little dog, not a blade of grass, just old bricks and scraps of broken wood for it. Johnnie Depp got it right for the title of his Ripper film ‘From Hell’ I am glad those houses were bulldozed. It is about time we let those poor women rest in peace. Their lives and endings were horrendous and should be respected not used as a fairground for those who like to get a kick out of other peoples misery. Just think if we did this with the 13 women killed by our own Jack The Ripper in Leeds. I knew one of those innocent women (a respected nurse) who was brutalised and murdered and her family still suffer nightmares about what that Ripper maniac did.

Amazing sense of atmosphere from seeing the original site. Too bad that Mason walks straight past the murder spot and the cameraman's more interested in the dog's arse, but it started off well.

Such a strange turn of events but George Lazenby didn't disgrace the role despite his inexperience. He performed admirably, there have been certainly worse performances as Bond by people considered as seasoned performers.
@rickhaydan34333 ай бұрын
Bond avoided commitment and marriage because he didn't want to turn loved ones into targets. Also, if he died, he didn't want to leave mourners, especially a widow or children. Tracy's death just proved that he had the right idea all along. Of course, he couldn't quit his job because he's an adrenalin addict.

Terrible camera work
@adamstar75164 ай бұрын
What an opportunity missed to document this ripper location better. They spend mere seconds showing the location which had not changed since the murder. Even more frustrating is the cameraman even went to the trouble of climbing Ito the actual room to get a shot looking out and we see nothing. Tantalising to think that at least 10 mins more footage would have been shot and might still exist as rushes but was never used.
@jamescorlett52722 ай бұрын
yes I agree more could and might have been filmed But let's get one thing straight regarding the murder of Annie Chapman they her killer and Chapman would have Had To have walked through the front door and into the backyard committed the murder then either climbed over the fence to escape or walked back through the house and out the front door - whilst the inhabitants are inside and Awake - odd to say the least - how unlikely is it that her killer would have Trapped themselves like that - next to zero imo the killer never left the house or could enjoy all the palaver from very close by .
@WolfgangMozart17912 ай бұрын
Agreed! It would have been great to see the cameraman enter, and get a look of the staircase and walkthrough. Would have also been a great opportunity to record themselves walk into the kitchen, sit down and interact/interview the old woman. They could have got some longer and wider shots outside, and perhaps even gone upstairs.
@GilbertSyndromeАй бұрын
@@jamescorlett5272The murder likely occurred hours prior to originally thought, and the killer more than likely left the same way that he entered, through the front door which was still ajar later that morning.

@@GilbertSyndrome I'll take it that you have been YT washed into fitting Mr Cross into the murderers shoes ? .
@GilbertSyndromeАй бұрын
@@jamescorlett5272 Where on earth would you get Charles Cross out of what I typed? lol. I don't have any suspect, as there are no good suspects. However, Dr. Philips thought that the murder occured earlier, and that idea makes sense when all things are considered. The door was left open, as evidenced by a witness from the apartments, and all residents were questioned. People came and went from Hanbury street whom did not live there. There's no reason to believe that the killer lived upstairs.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is stands alone in the Bond genre for many reasons. IMHO as a life long Bond fan, George Lazenby was more of a passable caricature of the Connery Bond. I think the casting of the late Dane Diana Rigg and the late Telly Salavlas raised the film's standard. I would go so far as saying Dane Rigg's character of Tracy was the first Bond girl to actually be the lead with Mr. Salvalas as the co-star. Mr. Lazenby was there to make it a "bond" film but really wasn't the action dramatic lead. I salute Mr. Lazenby for his chutzpah as a complete neophyte to walk into the offices of one of the most successful cinema franchises of the late 60s and fake his way into being cast as James Bond. But when he was put into a cast with experienced actors who were masters of their craft he could only be exposed like a piece of glass placed next to a D-Flawless diamond.
