is it me of does Slo-mo chorus by Chanel sound a lot like Hvala Me? Many of these songs simply are not good and if to this you add this type of bubblegum lighting, it does cheapen them. The songs that managed to qualify for the grand final plus Natalia Barbu but minus Cascada are enjoyable. The most awful staging goes to Ronela.

With Marina this year I kinda disagree I thought she underperformed in terms of her final result. A lot of people before the show thought she would at least make top 10 if not higher and while 11th is just outside of it I would argue the curse kinda came into play but I think her staging wasn't the best choice for the song, just my opinion though!

People thought Zari was a potential winner lol. Also the curse didn't play here because 11th is still a good result + 2024 voting on both juries and tele was a dumpster fire

@@origo1165 basically when in a contest 43 countries are announced to compete something happens and one of them withdraws dropping the number to 42 Examples include 2009 with Georgia(political lyrics referring to Vladimir Putin(the contest in 2009 was held in Russia and took place one year after Georgia was invades by Russia so Georgia was disqualified for political lyrics)) 2012 with Armenia (security concerns for the Armenian entry and non existent diplomatic relations with 2012 host country Azerbaijan) Also 2012 with Poland(withdrew to focus on hosting the UEFA European Football Championship) (Which means that had Poland and Armenia both competed we would have had 44 countries competing in Baku) 2016 with Romania (TVR owed massive debts to the EBU and so the song was disqualified and Romania was forced to withdraw(yes another dick move by the EBU)) 2017 with Russia(Yulua Samoilova was issued a travel ban and was unable to enter Ukraine, leading to Russia's withdrawal) 2008 in Belgrade, 2011 in Dusseldolf and 2018 in Lisbon were the only 3 years we had 43 participating countries

@@origo1165 oh and i forgot to also mention the winner's curse which is a winner coming back and not doing very well in their next attempts with the most affected being Dana International from Israel as she failed to qualify in 2011 after winning 13 years prior. The only exceptions are Johnny Logan and Loreen, both of whom won on both of their participations in eurovision

Austria broke the curse in 2016… because the song was the kinda song where pink was the PERFECT vibe, honestly. Like most of these songs could’ve had any other background color and I’d have pretty much the same effect. But not Zoë’s Also just adding: most of the songs that broke the curse had either songs perfect for the colors (I mean zero gravity with space staging just makes sense), or songs that stood out/would be remembered without the staging lol

Croatia NQed because of efentix which pushed Norway to get enough tele points to throw Croatia to the curb even though Albina qualified with both tele and jury.

My favorite example of this is Sekret by Ronela Hajati. Afaik, from 2018 to 2023, every single staging of Albania's songs used primarily black and red, the colors of the Albanian flag. Except, of course, Ronela, who had the only one of these songs to NQ.

A great video, very fun! I think many failed for two reasons: 1. A lot of basic dance songs; 2. Staging distracts from the song - the strobe and flashing lights work for a song like Luktelk because the lights match the beat, but most of these stagings detract from or overwhelm the performance.

I'm still mad about this year's entry from Austria, Kaleen did great, but maybe the broken footage for her dance break made the placement very undeserved.. I bet Kaleen and her team was very sad aswell..:( that was sucks...
