I think Ukraine's and France's entries appealed to the same crowd, and so people that might would have voted for both France and Ukraine under normal conditions went all in for Ukraine instead. France suffered from a quite bad draw also, just like the Netherlands.

The French song is great in concept, I just think they bombed on stage during the finale. The back vocals sounded awful. I love that they sang in a minority language and combined folk elements with techno, though. I just wish they had been better on stage. Their position super early in the lineup didn't help either. The EBU was literally so annoyed at Eastern Europe voting for each other that they implemented a jury to give western Europe some attention, so I think you might be wrong lmao. Also it's far more obvious when two countries continuously vote only for each other than say the Nordics where both Finland and Sweden are huge on the European music market and thus are likely to vote for each other simply because their entries are popular, or Slavic countries voting for each other to a larger extent because they share a lot of culture.

There was only one thing that was a mess in Eurovision 2022. And that was the german preliminary decision. The biggest favorit (and also the most known one, performing for nearly 10 years already) was already rejected for the 'who goes to Eurovision' show, and when the internet EXPLODED, the radio channel responsible for all this replied smth along the lines'They are not suitable for radio' - aka: not mainstream enough. Well, no, they are not mainstream, they are a metalcore-eurodance band, performing something called 'Fun Metal'. People even started a petition and over 130,000 people signed it. And got ignored. Well, we all know where 'suitable for the radio' has landed Germany once again. The band that was not even allowed to compete in Germany is, btw, 'Electric Callboy' with the song 'Pump It' and right now they are on tour, winning prices, and selling out their next tour for next year in the biggest venues of the world.

The war literally ruined Eurovision, if the war didn’t even happen then UK would win . It’s not like many people even liked the Ukrain song, people just gave points to Ukrain because they felt bad for Ukrain like it’s not even fair you choose to give point for a song you didn’t like but you felt bad.
@kitkatboard2 жыл бұрын
I... actually liked their song best (that flute solo lives rent free in my head). And I think a lot of people did too. Sure, they got pity points, but you could see it the other way around. Eurovision is already as political as it gets. So I find it wholesome in a way that people voted for them out of sympathy. There will always be more Eurovision anyway, so I wouldn't wory about it, although I wish I knew how many people who voted Ukraine actually enjoyed the song.
