Cleverly is probably the most mid-sized named person ever - he's as thick as s**t, so putting it in the wrong register is most likely down to that, as is his lie about not having his wife with him the thinking being that he's done something really clever when he really hasn't!

Howdy Phil! 👋👍. Johnson MUST have Rhino hide for skin; surely he knows what Joe and Joanne Public think of him? 😡👹 Brass neck and his trail of destruction marks him out as dangerous and untrustworthy. . . When are folks gonna say Enough Already? Anyone good at maths totted up the amount of money wasted/ stolen on his watch ⌚️? Curious to find out. . .

Boris Johnson has always thought that the normal rules of society don't apply to him - IIRC one of his former teachers has said that when caught doing something wrong, Boris looked completely bewildered as to why he was getting a rollicking for it.

if your conservatives are like ours, they'd think the military murdering "others" would be a cool thing, but if you used the word "murder" which has a negative connotation they'd be upset because they'd see it a an attack on the military. it's not a truly consistent world view but...hey that's who they are. kinda like racism. describing it is cool, but using the word is seen as an attack because it's insulting

Why, is it that those who can 'afford,' are offered AND accept. And, those who can't afford e.g. me, have never been offered. Finally, to those who 'offer,' what's their 'motive,' and are there any sanctions to those particular SOBs?

Some (a lot? of) Tories, and other folk have a tendency to habitual lying. Even when it's kind of not going to help disguise any discretion. I think were in an age of deliberate deceit majored by institutions of power. Board meetings behind closed doors then some announcement from the blue changing policy, or 'downsizing' for efficiency. The people who do the work and are obviously closest to reality being shat on again without consultation or input to the perceived issues.... The new normal for the upper reaches of the greasy pole

Reminds me of the anecdote about a British bank robber living wealthy free and undiscovered in Spain..until he got caught stealing a newspaper from a street vendor. The question was why did he do such a thing in his circumstances when he could easily afford one?The answer was simple. He was so fundamentally dishonest that he couldn't help himself.

All my appointments to see specialists so I can walk again without excruciating pain have arrived last week. 2 years, worsening COPD because I cant excercise and get fresh air in my lungs, an appountment to see the lung specialists, and 2 appointments for jabs to make sure I dont die of anything horrible this winter. Whoo woo. Told all you naysayers

In respect of Kuenssberg’s egregious error, the BBC should be looking at the circumstances. Why was Kuenssberg in direct email contact with Johnson at all? Surely her producer or other staff ought to have been doing this? How can an interviewer be perceived as impartial when they are email chatting with the interviewee. She clearly has staff because they were supposed to get the briefing notes. This is not just an error, it is gross carelessness, and might even be misconduct. Mis-sent emails are a legal minefield, if such a senior journalist can be so negligent, how often has this happened before. Her apology is not enough. It smacks of the previous government when gross misconduct was OK if you just said sorry.

I have to agree about John Major, but Kier Starmers speech where he told Russia they had some nerve showing their face after naming all their criminal activities was amazing. On the World Stage he is absolutely spot on. Why haven't Russia been kicked out. He has obviously lost his marbles, he us being Sanewashed. Another thing today was a Telegraph post on here completely sane washing Trump, saying Melania has made a speech which could win for the toddler megalomaniac that has promised this will be the last election the equally people that have lost the plot in the Christian, MAGA churches, run to take poor peoples cash and support Donnie until he gets in then kick him out for that vile Christian vice president choice that us fixated on women's wombs and lying about people invited to come and live in Springfield as businesses were coming in, enterprise was booming and most working age people had left during the quiet spell of no work. Apparently the Haitian people came, they worked they built up Springfield as legal immigrants and they are as loved and respected the same as the townspeople that went and invited them. Vance the creep told outright lies that they were eating peoples cats and dogs and beheading ducks. He us still doubling down even though everyone knows it's total BS. Trump too doubled down on his stint facing Kamala. Trump will have his finger on the button and will no authorisation to press it. Imagine if he has a hissy fit and does it. It will start a chain reaction and empty hundreds of silos of thermo nuclear weapons into orbit from every countries nuclear defence systems. 72 minutes later 60 % of the Earth's population will be turned to dust. Extremely long nuclear winter to follow. Despite the billionaire bunkers and small armies for protection no one will survive. The Atomic clock is at zero. No more time left unless Trump loses and gets locked up for the treason is he committing by cheating in the elections.

Boris is out of politics for good and should be ancient history by now. He's just a non story and not worth reporting on in the news and media or should be as most of us don't care about him and what he is doing now. We really don't want or need to see this man on any television show ever again promoting his book or anything else he's been doing since he left politics in total disgrace. Bye Bye Boris, good riddance and goodbye for good hopefully. As for Laura, well she's a Tory stooge and totally Tory blue through and through probably right down to her underwear I'll bet. She's so biased in the conservatives favour it's not real it almost makes you think that she was aiming for or crawling her way to getting herself rewarded in an honours list in the future. She should be sacked or dismissed for the unmatched levels of bias she has shown in her coverage of the political scene over the last few years

He cites the opinion of the financial markets on what they see as the acceptable limits to Reeves's spending beyond which disaster lies. But as always, the figure they suggest seems plucked out of the air rather than supported by arithmetic or reasoning. Ours not to reason why - and never ask in whose interests the markets work.

Not quite the same circumstances but a number of years ago my dad had surgery for bowel cancer which went very badly wrong. He'd told me before he went under that if it ever came to it, he wouldn't want to be put on life support or kept alive with little chance of getting his life back, and he signed a DNR. The day after surgery it became clear he'd got very severe sepsis and ended up in a coma, on life support, and with what we were told was a 95% chance he wouldn't make it through. After over a month in a coma and his various vitals up and down like a yo-yo, he finally came around. That day will haunt me for the rest of my life. A nurse took me to one side before I went to see him and told me he'd likely never fully recover and that he was begging the nurses not to let me see him because he didn't want me to see him in that state. He had wires and tubes everywhere and could barely talk. The few sentences he could get out were that he loved me but that he just wanted to be allowed to die and begging me to take out all of his wires and tubes. I have never felt so alone and helpless. After over a month in a coma, a further couple of months in intensive care and then almost a year in rehab he was able to return home with twice daily visits from nurses to change numerous dressings and stoma bags all over the place. He was alive but he had no real quality of life. He was with us for another couple of years before a shock secondary cancer diagnosis in which he was given less than a week to live. I absolutely treasured those two years, they meant the world to me, but they weren't his choice and they weren't what he wanted. There's nothing I wouldn't have given to have him back to normal but it just wasn't possible, and seeing him unable to live the life he wanted was heartbreaking. Ending your life or supporting a loved one to do so is an awful and very heavy decision to make, but it should be just that, a decision. It's not a decision I'd wish upon anyone but the only thing worse than having to make the decision is being unable to and watching someone suffer.
