Also depends on where you live. It seems all I can find in my area is SYP. It's awesome but sometimes inconvenient

Wedge angle is too big. Big brass door knob has to much inertia, this is the reason hitting the front does not release iron. Wooden planes often have soul made out of harder wood - not thisone. To make sides fancy and not to strengthen the soul is stupid. Stars and moon catch shavings, wardrobe, skin... very awkward to use. Handle is also not good for griping. You can't properly squeeze between index finger and thumb if diameter is too small.

Good for something? These opportunities allow for us to turn our feelings, which are usually positive, into words of appreciation. That should warm your heart like your sharing of woody wisdom warms ours. Merry Christmas, Rex.

i've run across a similarly constructed plane. i found it in the crawl space of a house with wall details that were fir 4x4s veneered on 3 sides with white oak against the wall. the plane was a softwood veneered on 3 sides with white oak i think, it was so dirty that i wasn't sure, but it looked reasonably similar to the wall details. it had soaked in water for a while though, barely holding together. i figured it was made from an offcut of one of those wall details. didn't think too much before i tossed it, shoulda kept it. i wasn't really interested in this sorta thing at the time.

i used to work in a lumber yard 40 years ago, here in texas all we got was syp. one customer special ordered doug fir and it dry rotted before we sold the remainder of the truckload. that was back in the bad old days when we stocked wolmanized (cca) lumber and didn't know at the time we were getting poisoned by both chromium 6 and arsenic.

exactly, you get the hammer moving before you hit the thing. then you let the Hammer hit the thing, whilst you are just there guiding the hammer. same with the chisel, just make sure the chisel is where it should be, there should be no rigid connection between your hand and the chisel in the moment you hammer on it.

Lol never underestimate the stupidity of morons. Lol. A hammer can't explode, it could fracture or shatter, but I doubt I'm physically strong enough to do that. Lmao.

I used to work for the DOT picking up large debris, so much construction timbers used for hauling objects...but you would come across some awesome pieces once found an 4 x 12 beam 6 foot length. But because of all the emissions the wood carbonizes and gets dense and hard...great for my shedz ....but it off gases far too much for anything else besides a lawnmower shed 😂

I work in a mill where we deal (mostly) in hardwood making baseboards crown moulding, flooring etc., and we run a LOT of yellow pine specifically for flooring because thats the only thing we can sell it as. Theres basically no way to get select yellow pine, you might get 8 feet of clean lumber out of 1000 board feet

I love my brace. In addition to what you mentioned, I have an attachment (from Lee Valley tools,) that let's me use standard driver bits. It is really cool to be able to "feel" that the wood is about to split, before it actually does.
