Does boiled lindseed oil work as well as canola? I sealed my tri-lam longbow (Tonkin actionboo core with ipe belly and hickory backing strip) with 7 or 8 coats of boiled lindseed oil mixed a lil bit of Melted beeswax. I now plan to fire hardened the belly before I encase both sides in the thinnest clear fiberglass I can find

It was a board bow experiment. During that time bc I had no Osage to work with I was going to menards and buying history boards and just working them, learning the whole process or everything. Getting familiar with the tillering tree learning how to lay one out, how to use card scrapers and such. I went dark like that thinking I would scrape it all off bc the limbs were thick

I'm curious how well this worked after you got it finished. Did it draw okay? did it change the tiller or draw weight? I have used my heat gun on three bows I have made but it never seems to get a good enough heat on the belly, or I am too chicken to go too far! Did using the oil make it heat faster or better? Also curious if you know how long you heated each of the limbs in this treatment. Thanks!

I am aware there are lots of people that claim to be Christians but they are nothing more than closet Christians....I am aware there are many, many who will say on that day LORD, LORD and Jesus will say, depart from Me for I never knew you. @@tjhoss6729 not here to argue but you’re thinking your calling out my flaws trying to point me to God? There’s alot of Christians that claim to be Christians but are nothing more then closet Christians? Are you listening to yourself? Are you claiming to be more worthy then me? I’ll lead you to John 7:24 and then to Romans 3:23! And also Jesus said in Mathew 6: 6-8 enter into a closet shut the door and pray. I’m not perfect nor claim to be. I was successful and my killing that buck after 3 encounters no scent lock control, no trail cameras, didn’t play the wind shot it in my dads camo he used to wear with a recurve no range finder no sights pure Guidance of God of the flight of my arrow like a I had prayed before the release. Does the video show that everytime prior to stabbing my fork through the meat that I pray and thank God for blessing me and my family with a fast clean ethical kill that’s now still providing meat for us 2 years out. Don’t go thinking you got it all figured out I’m a video. Sounds like you need to maybe work on your testimony more before you try preach and leading others to Christ. Actually inches from a full blown brawl.... I thank God That Mark Was committed to Christ enough to point things out to me That Wasn't lining up Is in my life...... Scriptures clear, Loving somebody isn't telling them what they want to hear, it's telling them the truth... We're not supposed to Focus on making people feel good.... Who feels good when you tell them the truth, that they're dead in their sins, that they've lied, that they've stolen, that they've committed adultery and that they can't be in the presence of God because He is Holy, Righteous and Just and must Cast all "those" who don't believe in the Finished work of His Son into Hell for eternity..... Isn't that what John the Baptist preached??? Didn't Jesus say that john was the greatest of all the profits??? Actually God's law is meant to condemn the soul, To point people to Christ.... John the Baptist Said a lot of things people didn't like, Jesus said a lot of things people didn't like.... That being said, glad you're Living for Christ. I just couldn't see it in the video. I have been researching welders recently, so many choices these days. I haven't welded since high school and that was about 5 decades ago. But I learned on a Lincoln tombstone and I loved arc welding. On your recommendation and what I saw in the video I am gonna purchase one of these welders. I'm patient and have the confidence I can run a smooth bead once again. I think once you can arc weld with reasonable skill you can weld with mig and tig easily enough. Thanks for the video.

awesome buck, awesome trad deer. God created us and gave the ability to hunt as well as the knowledge at how to make and use a bow. As we gain hunting experience, many of us begin to search for the simpler ways and so many quit the compounds for the modern longbows and recurves and find great satisfaction in them. While others go even further as they pursue their quarry with a selfbow. Then it becomes the very act of making your own selfbow/ cane arrows even knapping your own heads. This path is an awesome one and yet it is what God gave man the ability to do thousands of years ago. I hope that you too can see what it feels like to take a deer, any deer with a selfbow that you made with arrows that you made as well. Totally takes it up to the next level, even just a doe is an awesome trophy. Keep slinging those arrows!

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’m actually on the Selfbow journey now. Although I’ve completed my first successful Selfbow, I’m also a big buck hunter. I didn’t commit myself to practicing with my Selfbow as I should. So I’m sitting this year out with the Selfbow. I have multiple staves in my building drying. I believe I’m going to try a hollow limb design next before to long. The cane arrows I think that would be cool but also a lot of practice. Not sure if I’ll get to the cane arrow and flint knapping although I am extremely intrigued at it. But I believe I would be perfectly happy with just making the Selfbow string and then just ordering some Douglas fur shafts and going that route. I got a video on here of my Selfbow that I just put snake skins on. Thanks for the comment best of wishes happy hunting
