Not to forget the shopping precincts! What happened to Betty Nuppy’s Lane? Ah the Dale. It used to produce three billion yards of cloth a year!! No DHSS benefit then either.

I do not recommend walking late at night through the park called Municipal Gardens. Its known for drugs and gangs. We get a lot of robbery, voilence and drugs in Aldershot. Much higher than other places. Car theft aswell. Just be careful if you are thinking of visiting or want to move here. I have lived here for years.

I grew up near Rochdale and this is just conservative talking points blaming Rochdalians for the failures of tory greed and austerity. You have the cart before the horse -- if there is no economy in an area and it has no industries, and thus, no jobs, people can't just "take pride" and magically get a job. You showed nothing but derelict buildings, but that is because the economy has FAILED to uplift Rochdale, and news flash, it's been tories in power for over a decade who are supposed to be in charge of that - free market fantasies that haven't done anything for Rochdale, and their fascist-leaning buddies like Farage would do far worse to Rochdale. People who don't have a job, you want them to go tidy up their community for free, for what purpose? The core reason why those buildings were derelict (Rochdale is improving now) is because Rochdale got hit hard after the financial collapse but even before then its industries dropped off a cliff - we are no longer a manufacturing country, we're a service country -- and Rochdale is one of its sacrifice zones. Rochdale is, and was, a working class town. I work, and I ain't going to scab on people who are underserved by a shit economy, by a shit government, and by a bunch of corrupt etonians, or their doppelgangers now pretending to be on the left. Rochdale was founded on socialism, and cooperation. The cooperative pioneers saw the value of lifting people up, not kicking them down.

They can shit on Rochdale all they want but it's one of those towns with a lot of potential. The wheatsheaf is just lying around empty, a lot of the stores closed. The council is useless. All that land and they don't put it to use
@Amathusukx
@Amathusukx 10 ай бұрын
@@ulysses4989 That potential will never be met with such a high Asian community as their money stays in that community, look at any Northern Mill Town and the populous they are all shit holes. The estates are run down and anything the Council does is not appreciated, the roads and traffic flow is a motorists nightmare, the Crime rate is higher than the average for England and they have a large problem with drugs and Child sex gangs. This video is still accurate and current today, and travelling there every day to my misfortune I'd say it's a lot worse than 12 years ago.

I come up to see the relatives, but am always glad to get away. The residents don't give a shit - especially the pissed up and shit-faced ones. The police know, but as usual, don't care about the public. The council have turned large sections of the town into ghettos and no-go areas for the former occupants until they were driven out. They've done a good job with the town centre and even the new library, but it's like having one clean tooth in a rotting mouth.

I am Woking born and bred (until i moved away 6 years ago!) and you are 100% spot on. Even worse now. Woking is one of the most expensive places to live outside of London, probably due to the London Yuppie overspill the town solely caters for. Chavs are everywhere, Chertsey Road is a warzone at weekends. It thinks its a upper class New York lite town with its 3 huge 30 storey plus tower blocks that can be seen from miles away. Most ordinary people have moved out because of the costs. All the yuppies moved in. Yet its still full of arse scratching chavs. Bleeeeh. The Martias all died in the book. No wonder they landed in Woking and died of fright first glance they took of it it's a shithole.
