Missed out the most important part of the video!

Clean fencing is without weeds, grass, or shrubs. Often the clean fence distance is for a single strand of wire vs the typical fence will have some grass or weeds and is measured for a multi-wire fence.

But what if there are dissimilar metals in the charger itself or on the terminal where the grounding system connects to the charger? Would that cause whatever the problems are that I should avoid?

@@patrickcleburneuczjsxpmp9558 Dissimilar metals are used in your home’s electrical system. Most service entrances use aluminum wire up to the home’s breaker panel. You can use an anti-oxidant grease to help prevent corrosion, but if the joint is subject to weather it will eventually fail. If you use a copper clad ground rod, you will be well served to use copper ground wire and use an anti-oxidant where you connect it to the energizer. After that, inspect the connection every few months and you should be fine.

Is this model compatible with a remote?

Hi Shawn, the M600 is actually discontinued and is no longer being sold. The M560 is the new unit that replaced the M600, and though it has 5.6 stored joules it is actually rated for more fence and does come with a longer warranty than the M600 did. Neither of these units would be compatible with a remote, in order to gain functionality with a remote you would need to step up to the Gallagher i series. The MB1800i is the smallest i series unit.

Hi Ian, The red and black leads and clamps included with the unit are meant to connect to a battery. Sold separately, we do also have a power adapter that allows this unit to be plugged directly into 120v mains power. If you have any questions, let me know!

Thanks, although if I may make a suggestion the unit has a female plug on the power cable, all other plugs should therefore be male plugs so that one can make a connection and not as in the case of this unit female plugs. I do not know whether this is a QA or a design issue but the porduction of the unit has failed. I have cut the plugs off and soldered the cables but having paid good money for it I should not have to cut plugs to make it work. I am also aware that doing so will void my warranty if I need to claim which also fails to impress me. This unit will be at least 400yards from the nearest power supply it cannot use mains power.

@@ianb9028 I will definitely pass on your insight to Gallagher! As far as the warranty goes, though I can't say for certain as it would be at the discretion of Gallagher, they would likely still repair any damaged or defective components under warranty so long as it doesn't seem the modifications made caused the damage.

It is not a weather proof unit - ideal situation would be that it's covered and not possible for water to get in it. Get an undergate cable for transferring power to the fence. then get a 3 ground kit - which contains three 6' ground rods, 50' of 12.5 gauge galvanized wire, and heavy duty clamps. If you're in an area where the soil is not ideal - check out the super grounding kit.
