Question do I have to prime it or can I just paint it as it it
@PhilsMiniPainting9 ай бұрын
You have to prime yes. It gives the paint something to grab on to otherwise it'll just flake off

If you add a brown with good coverage your gold/bronze basecoat you can skip a coat or two of paint, Also tends to look a little bit more realistic if you leave that in the recesses. You can do the exact same thing with silvers and black/grey.. or any other high pigmentation regular matt -semi matt colour really. I seen this tip years ago in white dwarf and havent stopped using it since, You can even keep a tiny amount of similar toned of matt paint in all the way to highlights to help with the finnicky unforgiving nature of metallics.

Sprayed some handles with liquid gold, even after 3 days its still tacky, sprayed Alclad aqua gloss on one and even though it removed the tackiness it kinda killed the shine, will test Vallejo Metal varnish to see if it keeps the shine.
@PhilsMiniPainting Жыл бұрын
Ah that's not good :( could it be the underlying primer?
@TheIcemanModdeler Жыл бұрын
@@PhilsMiniPainting I always used Duplicolor primer and I also used Duplicolor gloss black underneath the gold and some coats of Vallejo Mecha Gloss. It stays tacky on whatever I use it, I did notice if I spray Vallejo Metal Varnish over the liquid gold it keeps the shine and kinda removes the tacky feeling by a bit. In the end I sprayed 2k auto clear coat over it and it completely removed the sticky feeling and made it super glossy!

I’m new to Warhammer 40K and its models… and also a T’au fan. I found your channel, because I was looking for a guide on how to build (not just paint) a T’au Broadside. I clicked on the channel to see what else you had that I could watch, and saw this at the top. Sorry to hear that you had to go through everything you did. I guess I am just making this comment to thank you, and hopefully encourage you to keep going. So… thank you so much for the T’au Broadside video, and I look forward to seeing more from you.

I've got a hammerhead I've been meaning to build. Same scheme as my first video?
@millefune2 жыл бұрын
Sure. It’s nice to have the faction models match. Also, it will give the opportunity to show how to paint in the same theme on a bigger, wider, or a spaced out surface. You could also probably get multiple videos out of the project. If you don’t time-lapse the building process, you can have a video that focuses on building the model, followed by a video on painting it.

Pretty good tutorial. The only thing I would really suggest is when you are doing the highlight drybrush with leadbelcher is only use downward strokes so that you get a highlight coming down from above, rather than it shining up the entire model evenly, then maybe follow it up with an even finer drybrush or spot highlight of ironbreaker op something.

Games workshop are all made in UK Nottingham which supports local jobs and less carbon footprint, which is why I'd rather go for the GW one.
