@ I have shot over 70 wild boars and gutted by myself on our property since we've been here. The most I have ever gutted/butcher in the middle of the night is 10 boars by myself without any help 🐗 I have 280+ pounds boar head mounted in my kitchen that I shot and killed on the other side of the hill in front of my house. Winched up the hill and gutted, took it to the taxidermist by myself. The boar head is in one of my video. (Avocado surviving a snowy Paso Robles winter. )The largest animal that I killed is an elk in Montana. Gutted it myself. It is not a pretty sight. I was the only female member that hunt and gutted my own animals at the StockFarm country club of Montana. We were the only country club member that hunt without a guide. We gutted our own animals our self. We hunt for meat not trophy. We used to hunt every year in Western parts of Montana, the Missouri Break. We hunt on BLM ranch for Elk, White tails, Mule deer and Antelope. Shooting large animals is easy. Gutting and dragging the animals out is hard. Wild pigs it’s much harder to shoot. Those little legs runs fast 😆 Gutting an animals at night it is very difficult. Back aching. We do apply for depredation permits, it’s aloud me to shoot 24hrs a day on our ranch. The nice thing about Montana is you don’t have to deal with poison oaks. Hunting in California you have to know how to deal with poison oak. My brother did shipped me a night vision thermal scope this year. But have not had a chance to use it yet. Maybe after the holidays. Lots of people we know hunt. But they hunt with a guided hunt. They don't gut their own animals. We do.

That’s really encouraging, Betty. I just bought my first white sapote, a Lemon Gold. So I’m hoping it will do okay here in St. Helena. I did see one other white sapote tree behind the Charter Oak restaurant here. It looked like the fruit ripened toward the end of summer. It could be like avocados, in that different white sapote varieties ripen at different times? I don’t know. How old is your white sapote, and what variety?
@Betty5995 күн бұрын
Good morning Jenny, I don't remember the name of my white Sapote, It is a dwarf root stock. It is between seven or eight years old. I did have label on there initially. But some of my previous workers removed the label of my tree, so I don't remember the name of the White Sapote. Every one that has a white sapote tree they love the fruits. Very low maintenance, no disease or bug issues.

@ Ah, got it. Did you need to give it any protection when you first planted it? Or is it a bit hardier than avocado trees? And how many years did it take to fruit? I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting a while for my WS. By the way, I don’t know if you noticed, but I have a new KZbin channel name. I changed it from my full name for privacy, and used a nick name my husband gave me. Hi Jennie, thanks for watching. My white Sapote tree is very hardy. The tree had no protection whatsoever, in my opinion is hardier than avocado. I remember the label on the box. It said dwarf tree. I heard that Florida avocados texture is watery because most are the West Indies variety and they lack the oil content California varieties have.

Thank you for watching🙏 In my opinion lots of farm in Florida picked they avocados too early to beat the competition of South America avocados coming in United States. That is why it is taste watery. If they waited to picked the avocado at maturity then the price will go down. Florida is competing with South America avocado market. It gives Florida avocado bad reputation for being watery because picking the fruits to early. Just like any other fruits or citrus. If you pickted the fruit early it will not taste the best. That is why I am growing my own fruits trees. Because I know how fruit should taste. Even in California lot of commercial farm picked fruits too early to prevent bruising and shipped to the markets. That is why store bought fruit doesn't taste like home grown fruit. Tom from Sleepy Lizard farm and Lara farm said the same thing. If you leave the fruit longer on the trees the fruits will tasted better.

@@TropicalGardenGuy I was thinking the same thing. Here in our cold valley floor in the town of St. Helena in the Napa Valley, we are considered 9b, but I cannot grow many varieties that Betty is growing.
