Bit late to the party here but the ghosts REALLY don't like it when you throw cursed objects especially the ouija board. Also pretty good chance it was a demon as they can hunt at any sanity

@@sinusoidal.collector3516 I am not sure exactly, but what I believe it does is it manipulates mario's sub pixel values which makes him traverse through a whirlpool 1 frame faster. I am not too sure myself, but I know it has something to do with sub pixels and whirlpools!

Thanks for the whirlpool manip explanation! Was wondering if it was necessary/made .06 easier and how you even do it from the other vids mentioning it, so I'm glad to hear the definitive answer! Got my .08, so now it's time for the final grind for this level!

No problem!! I was unable to find an explanation too, but I have a background in speedrunning SMB1 so I was able to figure it out and I wanted to let everyone else know how it works! It is necessary for the .06 unfortunately, so it may take quite a few attempts as the manipulation is pretty precise! It took me quite a lot of attempts, especially because the patterns for the cheeps can be quite unforgiving... but good luck with your attempts, I'm sure you'll get it! Let me know if you need any help! Also, another thing I wanted to mention - I am not sure if you are already doing this or not, but at the end of the level (0:38) I am holding down+right to go into the pipe. It is usually better to do this in water sections when you need to land on the ground, as if you only hold right and land on the ground it instantly reduces your speed to walking speed instead of swimming speed. If you hold down+right, it makes it so that you maintain water speed momentarily when on the ground. This should make the pipe entry as fast as possible even if you land a bit earlier and have to walk on the ground! I hope that was easy to understand, let me know if you have any questions!

Sorry that it's a little late now, but I got a lot of 3.85s before getting this time... there could be many reasons, for me I think it was that I was not hitting him as early as I possibly could in the beginning, and after each swing. I hope you can get the 3.81!

I am not sure, it should only take this amount of hits to kill him. It could be that you are using the sword too quickly between hits, he has a period of invulnerability after hitting him each time!
