I had this same experience recently. Around 2015 I found a thread on a forum saying how wonderful por15 was. I got a quart and went to town on the front axle, suspension and frame of my 2000 f250. I’ll stick to spray paint from now on. Por15 trapped rust snd liquid under it until it started flaking and peeling off. I spent a week with a wire wheel and sanding discs to clean it all up

the problem with any paint on coating is that they can only ever sit on top of the steel....once rust starts in even a small area it converts the steel to iron oxide which expands and lifts the coating allowing water to penetrate further along...it's a snowball effect.

Balance gears aka "Grenade Gears" . From what i read and all the pics i saw of grenaded ones, id huck them too. (I have a 321 and 2 341's one is a rare 13fin industrial. ) I have heard others complain about not having them (grenade gears) but.. There IS another way to go! You then machine your crank and install a plate on it. Dont have the link handy atm, but could provide it if you want.. So far as i understand it, in basic terms, it was just weirdly balanced to begin with! It moves the ratio from something like 52 to 48 or.. I forget the numbers and not right up on the super tech part, but thats how i understood it, roughly. The ones i have..They are motors to go in machines that are almost rebuilt and i did research but not got that far yet as to do that and then run one.. "They" claim its the 🤔
@VPTfabАй бұрын
@@cumulusvapes7 I read a ton on the subject as well. The problem with singles is there is no way to perfectly balance them. If you balance the crank to the rod/piston it will be good at tdc and bdc but will be out of balance at half stroke (90 degrees from tdc/bdc). Running the motor with and without the grenade gears isn't much different. But like I mentioned in the video there is a high speed vibration that resonates threw the machine and was making my hands go numb towards the end of mowing. Nothing terrible just an annoyance. A rubber mounted motor it would be no problem what so ever. I installed all new shafts and bearings in the grenade gears and reinstalled them. I figure if they lasted this long they should do another 30 years with all new parts. At least that's my hope.

@VPTfabАй бұрын
@@cpcoark This was a fun rebuild for me. I do so much serious stuff for other people all the time I enjoy doing these something like this small engine for myself. Just glad the mistake was on my own junk and only a single banger! I got my rebuild kit(s) from a guy on eBay. 'Bakt4kids' to be exact. They are all aftermarket parts but do work. Honestly if I were to do it again, knowing my rod was in great condition I might have just got an OEM oversize piston and rings. But I am sure the aftermarket stuff will be just fine. Being a solid mount motor I am glad I decided the refurbish the balance gears and reinstall them. Without them there wasn't a "shake" but a higher "hertz" vibration. Would never notice with rubber mounts though.
