So a lot of us has done this act that whenever we see imam goes in ruku the one who comes late join the rakat while only performing qiyaam for about the length of in which a person can recite 1 subhanallah and his rakat will be validated so did they recite fatiha in that sort of time NO. that shows it's not obligatory to recite fatiha behind imam. 2nd thing whenever imam make mistakes in prayer he does extra prostation to rectify it so why does the muktadi do extra prostation for mistake of imam? Becuase imams mistake is what everyone's mistake that's why Imams fatiha is enough for muktadi.
