Thanks for your video. My extractor certainly needed adjustment and it had noticeable carbon buildup. You appear to have an early Tec-9 since it's lacking the screw end cap on the upper receiver. Mine has the same and its SN is 012XX. Besides the extractor adjustment, I also polished the feed ramp as mine was not firing reliability but here's hoping my work today did the trick. I'll know next weekend. Thanks again.

May I ask what the point is over carrying iwb appendix? Seems like you 1) drastically slow down your draw and 2) become an obvious target / gun carrier
@jakemrcool8 ай бұрын
It's not obvious that there is a gun in there. Its never about a fast draw. It's more important to be able to think clearly what your going to do then do it. You don't just draw and shoot. I've open carried for 16 years and it has never made me a target. Infact I have had people that have seen me almost every day carrying a gun one day realize I had a gun on me and ask if I always carry.
@bigexpress64128 ай бұрын
It's actually more of a backup gun. I Iike to keep on my person. I prefer carrying a full size 9mm or my G23 (.40s&w) they don't carry well appendix at least I haven't found a comfortable way with them. This would be great in the summer time when i don't want to have a lot of layers. I also tend to tuck my shirts in. I typically open carry or ankle carry a tiny 9mm. This is way better than an ankle carry. This is still a work in progress kinda seeing how I like to carry this way. I haven't taken it out and shot from drawing it out of the bag yet. Hopefully this week I'll get some time at my range to practice draw and live fire.
@jtfoog52208 ай бұрын
@@jakemrcool thanks for explaining your view and experience. If I may differ from one thing, it’s that you never “draw and shoot”. Although luckily I have never personally been in a self defense situation, I’ve seen many recordings online and a common theme I see is that seconds matter. That’s why I personally practice situational awareness, and practice a fast draw from holster and first shot on target. As far as people knowing you have a gun, I’m sure there’s some upside benefits, I bet the vast majority of potential a-holes you encounter would rather not mess with someone open carrying. Point taken Lastly, it’s pretty obvious you have a gun in there 😉 there’s no other reason I’d expect someone to wear that item around their side or chest in public.

Get a jig, router, and an aluminum 80% receiver….. I’ve shot and tried both. Yeah plastics might be more convenient, easier and perhaps cheaper. But nothing can replace metal, if you want a gun to last past your lifetime (if proper care is taken) do it once and forget about it. Tired of the caliber, change it like a store bought lower….. aluminum all the way. Especially on an AR-10, it has a heavy recoil ( compared to the puny AR-15). Maybe it’s very useful for pistols… but for rifles… aluminum won’t fail you.

@bigexpress6412 Жыл бұрын
It was up as far as it would go without my had going past the muzzle. If you notice my hand never goes past the end of the handguard. The far forward grip allows for more control of the weapon. So I put the angled grip up front but still behind the muzzle.

@bendover4602 жыл бұрын
Does switching to glock mags help the reliability of the firearm? The original tec 9 mags are usually to blame for the atrocious reliability. I myself have an ab10 model and i cant go 3 rounds without a freaking major jam. But if this helps id try it in a heartbeat!
@bigexpress64122 жыл бұрын
Well if your extractor isn't set up properly then it doesn't matter. I want to do a video addressing that soon It's pretty easy to do. I've noticed some ammo isn't as reliable as others. I just shot a couple mags the other day with blazer aluminum case and had a few jams I think if I adjusted the extractor to that ammo it would have run better. That's assuming you have extraction issues and not feeding issues. In the few different tecs I've dealt with it's always the extractor. Within the next few day's I should have a video out about it.
