I Qwen. I just discovered you and I can’t get enough! Here are my thoughts… you didn’t make your original angles as pronounced as you did with the thumbnail. I’d like to see more angles to define some of the shapes better. Right now it looks like a face of a woman which is pretty cool. Personally I’d like to see more of your green that you like too. Thank you for being so spontaneous and honest! I just can’t wait to get to painting tomorrow!

I do this with invisible ink in my art and paintings. So when someone brings one home and happens to shine a uv light on it at some point, there is a little hidden message for them.😊😉

You can make those folded pens out off soda cans and get even more unexpected marks. they chatter across the tooth of the paper.

"Asemic Art" is nonsense art, as devoid of message as the work of Jackson Pollock.
@GwenFoxArtistКүн бұрын
Well William.....I am so glad you shared your opinion. I happen to agree with you about Pollock (although not quite as strong as you feel) but Asemic writing within art is a form of art that is associated with fine art collage. It has its own importance in the art world. I don't believe it is nonsense art and devoid of message. Actually quite the opposite....it tells a story within the painting which is a form of communication with the viewer. Asemic writing also adds mystery which is one component of painting that is super important. What on earth makes you think Asemic writing within the painting is nonsense?

@GwenFoxArtist "Well William.....I am so glad you shared your opinion......................" 🌷I just 'found' you- (algorithms). I 👍ed up and subbd :-) I appreciate what I've just watched- And look forward to playing with it... Thank you. Regarding dear William... Whenever I see an arrogant or ignorant or mean-spirited comment, I feel it's coming from someone who is insecure? (& never 'colors outside the lines'?) I feel that "anything goes" in art... almost anything is inclusive... Juxtapose anything with anything else? Delight your senses- create mystery, whimsy, even a profound political thought? Or it could be awful & you'd want to run for the hills lol- But why not try it? No fears! I've never heard the word asemic before... (I always called it 'squiggles' or 'doodling') It's a label for a fun technique. It also makes me think of something that's called "automatic writing". One gets into a meditative state and then allows your pen or pencil or whatever to glide on the paper... Some people have written a book this way, eyes open or eyes closed. It brings out subconscious thoughts and feelings- It's very fun; it can also give you answers to questions that you may not even have know you have. 😊 At any rate, this is way too long and I apologize. My very best to you & your :-)

Hi Gwen, I've just found you and I'm so glad. I have been wanting to paint abstract for some time, but although I have learned much from online courses, KZbin tutorials, etc., I always come unstuck when it comes to WHAT to paint without it ending up as something representational - a landscape, say. Your video has been such an eye-opener! I feel a huge blockage has been removed and my creative juices can start flowing again. I have started to look at things differently (who knew a painting could come out of a mess your dog made with toilet paper??!!) so a big THANK YOU.🙏 I can't wait to get going. ❤

Parallel pens aka folded pens can be made from pop cans or beer cans hence the name "cola pen". Lots on internet about making your own folded pen and inspired calligraphers using them.

I use this alot in my art ... sometimes it actually says something...some times it's just gibberish. I use it in my abstract/collages ...but also some times in representing art ...like yesterday I used it creating "grass" in a pumpkin field.

So, all one needs to do is scribble. Easy to do now that my hands have become arthritic. Actually, don't care for art that makes no sense to me. Many people do and that's ok. To each his own.

I'm so glad I found your channel! I paint only for fun, without pretensions, because it allows me to be playful and connect with my inner feelings without other people's judgments. To get more exciting and meaningful results, I will definitely adopt the method of writing the words that you want my painting to express. You are a teacher at heart. Thank you so much for your generous advice. Gratitude from Montreal.

Terrific video Gwen. I've always been really intrigued with this Asemic writing, or at least my own hand writing, so you couldn't read it, but I found it quite hard to do. But writing as you've shown us, with some fun tools, almost anything is possible!

Try this: Go to your local hardware store and buy a small sheet of galvanized steel. (You could also use a galvanized metal bucket or tub, but the flat sheet is easier to work with.) Next, you'll want a 10 power printer's magnifying glass with a base plate. The base has an opening that works just like your viewfinders. Examine the crystalline structure of the zinc on the metal with the magnifying glass, looking through the base. There is an almost infinite variety of patterns in the zinc that often resembles snow flake crystals. By moving the base plate/view finder of the glass around, you're sure to find a pattern that inspires you.

I wonder how silicon tools would work as they should glide across the paper 🤔 I recently got a bunch of silicon gel brushes for facial mud application. I must try them as they come in different end shapes that are solid, not actually brush-like & are different sizes, some with corners, others rounded. I love ASIC writing but the dragging of a nib on the page makes my teeth ache in a weird way lol.
