A small berry farm (bushes) I know prolongs their growing season into the Fall by two weeks ny watering in the evening. This apparently warms their crops enough. Every little bit helps.

in order to get a new onion from an old onion, you have to use a whole onion. Just using the bottoms, will get you a stalk, but not a whole onion.
@Getawaymoments21 күн бұрын
@berniesat Interesting. Last year I got three or four small to medium off each butt. I do not expect to get a new store perfect onion doing this. I'm always cooking with onions, so I'll use all of them.

They will grow to flower and then you get seeds. You will not get onions from "onion butts" only seeds if they flower.

@@Lewis11922garlic is grown from a clove and has seeds every year. Onions are grown from transplants for the best yield. They will regrow from the same roots but won’t have a good yield because they are putting their energy into making seeds the second year. But they do make good spring onion greens.

We tossed them in our corner compost and by late summer we had 25-29 onions 😮😂 the same happened with white pumpkins, tossed in ground, son rototilled the soil and we had 2/3 dozen white pumpkins.
