This is great information and Brownells failed to mention how much torque is too much torque. They did state don't go over 30ft lb but now values for when the barrel started to constrict. The only reservation I would have with 15ft lb is for a suppressor host. Wouldn't want it loosening up and getting a baffle strike. I purchased Accuwashers and seem to be between the #18 and #17. #17 takes less than 20ft lb and #18 takes over 40ft lb.

Hello sir. I was going to say the 2Unique Barreling Spud is back in stock, but I see it's already been brought to you and your viewers' attention. You mention the 1/4" sleeve you added in your 2Unique rod, did it come from McMaster-Carr. Also, where did you get the gas tube alignment rod you inserted into the sleeve, or maybe you simply cut a short piece from a gas tube? I assume the sleeve has in inside diameter listed on the retailer's site and the alignment rod is an exact fit. What is that dimension, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the informative video and have a great week!

@@ar-15techtipsinunder5minut8 No sir. I haven't bought one yet. I'm new to the AR platform and have been buying some tools from different online retailers as I find them on sale or at the best price I can find. I've bought from Brownells ( Brownells lower receiver vise block, Little Crow Bolt Catch Release Punches, a couple of Mahew center punches for staking castle nuts and gas keys, the Brownells armorer's wrench), Midway USA (a set of Grace roll pin punches, including starters, Wheeler bench block and the Wheeler Clamshell upper receiver block for $22 and change), and from Hinterland Outfitters the NC Vism lower receiver vise block for $23 and change. That was by far the best price I saw anywhere on that item. I had watched your video on it with your modifications. I've been a hunter and firearms enthusiast all my life, bought my first AR about a year ago and was addicted! I've been looking at Midwest Industries URR $94 & change at Grab-A-Gun), whereas the 2Unique is $175. This was the best idea in decades--a lightweight but durable plug for the forward assist cavity. I suppose that we'll have to 3D print these or mill them. Delrin is an interesting material, bit I have no idea how to work with it. Thanks for passing along this information. It gives me hope that intelligent humans are connected to the internet. It took me probably fifteen minutes to figure out the best search terms to use to find your video. "plug for ar15 forward assist" was the winnrer--this was the top video returned in that search query. Every other search I tried yielded discussions of the forward assist or how to remove and install a new guccified assist assembly.

Thanks for the good video/info! Much appreciated and needed! I'm relatively new to the AR platform and have been watching your videos closely and learning a lot. I'm also probably one of Pete Egger's biggest fans. I really liked your video on the Mexican Colt AR. What a treasure. I think you said you acquired it from Clyde Armory, that would be my congressman as I live in the N. Ga. Mtns. If I'm not mistaken, his business is located in McDonough, Ga. I had seen a video stating he, Andrew Clyde, sold the first Colt 6920 in the U.S, when they were first released. By your mentioning visiting McMaster & Carr frequently to find the correct thumb screws for updating/improving your N.C. Star lower receiver vise block, I assume your also a Ga. boy. One last thing, when using your carry handle front sight alignment tool, you showed a stripped detachable carry handle, (with the windage & elevation parts removed), would a cheap carry handle work for this or would it require a Colt or another more expensive brand? Thanks, and enjoy your day!

This is what I was looking for. I’ve been a mechanic for a long time now and decided for my first ar I’m going to build it. A lot of my knowledge translates to this. Metal doesn’t change because it’s on a gun and a lot of things that people make out to be really important or very difficult seem to be obvious, simple, or even unimportant to me. I’ve been completely surprised about the weird habits it weird processes that people do to these guns. For example “heating” the upper with a blow dryer or even a heat gun. The blow dryer isn’t going to do a damn thing and if your going to use a heat gun then just use a torch for a few seconds, but at least your in the right direction. I’m also pretty surprised the freezer didn’t do anything that’s good knowledge. Just to add this. It seems like a lot of people learned how to assemble there ar but probably don’t know much else. It’s made them learn one thing from one place one time about one thing and become stuck in there opinion like a rut.
