If you are still, how can you not maintain a closed stance until post impact? If the stance changes, then by definition you are not being still right?

If you want to hit the ball straight, then the JVGA swing is the one for you. As long as your legs and torso stay still while swinging the golf club. You will hit it straight every time. I personally don't use this swing all of the time, just most of the time. For instance with chipping and shorter pitches, l like to stand open, which is the opposite of JVGA,s closed. Another great teacher in the art of hitting the golf ball straight is Todd Graves, who uses the Moe Norman system of the single plane swing. I sometimes use this as well, with the right shoulder tilt back and down to avoid the "over the top" action.

I played with this swing for first time today - I am 73 and struggle with lower back pain - this swing is definitely kinder to my back. I hit some very good iron shots and bump and roll shots and I chip much better. However I struggled with the driver so I need to spend time on the range to sort this out. This will be my swing now as I feel it will allow to play and walk the course again.

Would you set up slightly left and then close your stance or feel like you’re aiming slightly left as you close your setup (if that makes sense)?
@folkep
@folkep Күн бұрын
Aim the club head against the target, that is a left of the pin (depending on you knowing how much you draw). The legs can aim straight to the target if you like, but your upper body shall be closed. To also close your legs in line with your upper body therefore makes it easier. Then you should swing along your bodyline and turn after you have hit the ball. That is; STAY STILL. 😁🥂 This is my understanding. Maybe I’m wrong. Ask Jim himself. He is a nice, helping golf coach. The best. 👍 Give him my regards from Finland.

I buy and sell older clubs and by far the best older grips have been golf pride. They last for decades so I find it hard to believe that you need to change grips every year. If you have cheap grips then sure but the quality of golf pride and not having to change them every year would be so much cheaper.
@GolfQuestChannel
@GolfQuestChannel 15 күн бұрын
I guess it depends on how much you play. I play year round due to having a simulator. Even the Golf Pride website says once a year is a baseline. I've had all sorts of different kinds of grips - including Golf Pride. I would say that they do tend to last longer but not necessarily long enough to justify the price increase. Ultimately you need to be satisfied with what you spend / what you buy.

If you scroll through the comments you will see this mentioned quite a few times. It's a fair comment. When I first got started (a few years ago now) I didn't think it was possible to do a fully functioning simulator for under 10k. The launch monitors I knew about were 12-20 k just for the launch monitor. So I always thought it would be basically impossible. So, I hear you when you question "cheap" but for me (relatively speaking that is) it was quite cheap. You can even go cheaper of course if you are willing to look for a lot of this stuff used. My buddy is great at that and has saved a ton.
