Once again, Joop, you've managed to floor me with another excellent video, but this time even with a Lautner house I'd never heard of! I'm sure I've never come across this one in any of my Lautner books. How is that even possible? And what an amazing, hidden jewel it is, too! Well done, my friend!

Mr. Cornelis you have brightened my day once again with your wonderful breakdown and review of the design details of yet another amazing Lautner creation. I must seriously thank you for your hard work which I know is a beautiful labor of love, respect and admiration for the creative genius of our favorite architect. One day, when you have exhausted his entire body of work, I hope you release a complete collection of you work in this regard as I will gladly be the first to purchase such an epic. You are creating an important archive Brother and I admire you greatly. Cheers and I hope I see your next episode soon.

So happy for this new video to come into my stream when I was sat at the keyboard. This fact has prompted me to comment for the first time. This video channel and the wonderful way you present these beautiful buildings is one of the reasons I switch on youtube in the first place. Architecture is the "profession" that surely has the most impact on people lives and John Lautner is at the very pinnacle of this business. Please never stop drawing our attention to these masterpieces in such a wonderful and innovative manner. I am extremely grateful to you.

It is a spectacular house, well suited for large events. I've never seen anything like it, except maybe Elrod House. I agree that it would have looked better with John Lautner's intended furniture, and without the murals. But the house is impressive in any case.

Yes, the house is amazing en spectaculair but it could have been better if John Lautner had complete creative control. When I made this video, the house was under renovation. After the completion of the renovation the house became much closer to Lautner's original vision. I'm planning to make a new video showing the new version of the house: showing how the house was supposed to look. The video will in better quality, with better drawings and different music. This is a lovely video. I think maybe I like the Jacobsen house a little better, just because, but both houses give you the feeling of living in the trees. I like very much the Wright influence, especially in the living room. You said, Jop, that John Lautner never built the same house twice, but this one is truly spectacular in a way all its own. I have never even seen a house remotely like this one. I love the feeling it has of being safe in a castle, and yet having freedom of views and the closeness of nature.

This is my nr. 1 favorite by Lautner. The funny thing is that it is by far not as remote as it seems: it's located by in a tense populated neighbourhood of Hollywood and it's enclosed by adjacent houses from all sides. Still by a clever placing of bushes and trees it looks very isolated and remote. I love every bit of it's brilliant design.

Incredibly beautiful masterpiece. Again, John Lautner relishes the challenge of building on an "unbuildable" site, and perfectly integrating the house with the surrounding forest. It must be wonderful to stay in this cabin and feel embraced by nature. I saw the video of Miss Pearlman talking about the history of the cabin and her childhood memories of it.

According to a Palm Springs architecture tour guide, the Kaufman home was going to have another home actually built by Frank Lloyd Wright behind it that was going to be massive. Fascinating design - Lautner's architecture continues to excite with each new feature! The moving room in this house is just as unbelievable as it is in his other design with that feature, except maybe even better given the setting of this home. I would love to see this home returned back to its original appointments. It looked great with the carpet spanning the main living area and the dome bedroom wall. It's currently too hard and cold inside, which is nothing like Lautner's typical vision for homes.

It seems to me that Lautner relished the challenges of building on hillsides, as he made so many houses on those sites. This one is elegant and beautiful. I would love living in a house surrounded by trees. You always have the beauty of outdoors as your changing artwork. The open staircase is a little scary, but other than that, the house seems very cozy and comfortable. I love how John Lautner made these houses seem very warm and comforting.

John Lautner made so many houses on hillsides because Los Angeles is surrounded by hills (nearly all Lautner designs are located in and around LA). Also John Lautner had the reputation of being a genius who could design houses on difficult almost impossible locations, therefore people with the most hard to built locations came to him. Floating houses built against hillsides was somewhat of his specialism. Together with the Schaffer House, the Wallstrom house belongs to my favorite houses by Lautner: because it are his most humble! not so luxurious as his other later homes.
