my great grandma lived thru the great depression as a kid, and as some form of trauma response spent the rest of her life hoarding all forms of stuff- from newspapers to milk cartons. its always been so interesting to me, the relationship we have with the material world, and 3 generations on, i still find myself affected by the way my family has responded to their possessions my mom, always trying desperately to get rid of stuff, my grandmother, spending the past 20 years raking through her mother's journals, using them to chart her family history, and me, somewhere in between. trying to honour my materials without being too attached materials are weird, and being able to understand the value of the stuff we take into our homes and lives (and even being aware of the fact that our lives can go on without such things) is something i feel like a lot of people could benefit from, so good for you!!

I feel like social media makes us conform, into to becoming somethin else. The algorithms tend to pefer video to picture posts. Adding music on top changes or can change the mood I want to evoke for a piece. Also I hate always feeling obliged to have my face in the video 😂😅. I'm fine with video posting just not how social media perfers. I avoid like 90+ % of tends because i feel like they are more clout & performative than espressing ourselves and sharing the human experience. I, want to see and love it when people create for, the benefit of themselves over popularity. I am full of ideas though, I truly dont wanna say I'm in burnout but I will see where ai and trends go.

I got so upset at my former social media mentor when i said i want to be known as an artist than content creator, & she went "well you're going to have to own up to CC since you will be one" like NO! I'm an artist! I was so tired running over different apps to get engagement on while the algorithm fluctuates 😮‍💨 It burned me out faster than actually creating art. Hell, even when inwas writing stories i had more energy doing that alongside art. That's why I'm so grateful to my art business mentor for not pressuring social media on her students. I rather do email marketing, which is so fun since i get to write mini blogs in them like my stories, than social media chasing the algorithm then being stuck on their overconsuming things.

Catching up on your videos. Another great one with some good gems. Ugh I def resonate with what you've said. The monetization of work not defining the legitmacy of your work or being an artist. That right there. And also what success looks like. These are my nemesis. I feel that right now. I'm not doing much at all with my art ... my store or any commissions or projects and so it all feels without purpose. At a loss. So now it's how do bI move forward. thank youuu for the thoughts!! this is really some great stuff to unpack with myself like you said. i am ready to leave my workplace largely because of feeling like people are being careless with the way they communicate and inconsiderate how they lead and address problems. i feel like i monitor myself too much and never let myself have the hard conversations where someone might have a negative takeaway even if it's right for me. but it's an unrealistic expectation. i have to work on that habit! thanks again and take care!!
