When we moved to Orlando back in 2015 there were a few more stores open, a couple restaurants in the food court, and the arcade was still there. But you could tell it was on the decline. All those are gone now. Dillard's is still open but its a "Clearance center", you can only access it from the outside, and what you'll find inside is pretty sad. We were there back in May 2024 to catch a movie (Just before this video was posted). The escalator was offline and so was the elevator. There was a security guard directing people to go back outside, go around to the top level of the parking structure, and access the second floor from there. I see they got rid of even that courtesy, guess you're on your own to figure it out now. At the time I thought to myself "That's just brilliant. Lets drive the final nail in the coffin by making it difficult to access one of the last draws of income to this place. No wonder it's a dying mall." JC Penney vanished a couple years ago, and watch where you drive if you plan on keeping your suspension. That parking lot has seen better days.

There are three Dillard's because they were different stores. Dillard's West - original one Dillard's South -Gayfers Dillard's East - Belk Lindsey (and possibly a Burdine's at one time) Books-A-Million was Walgreen's and it had the same "back entrance" into the mall itself. Applebee's was never there. Piccadilly Cafeteria was at the food court, as was a Cinnabon.

As someone who grew up in the area and visited Fashion Square often when I was younger, it's very sad to see the liveliness and social life that once flooded the mall slowly fade away as the years go by. That was my mall I went to as a kid in the early 90s and then spent a lot of time in the late 90s and early 2000s at the arcade and food court. Had a lot of good memories in the old theater outside and the China Jade. I got Bruce Campbell's autograph upstairs and got my first laptop before I went to college at a Dell kiosk.
