I am a new actor and haven’t worked in films How do I make a showreel for myself?
@StageMilkАй бұрын
Hey! I would just start with some high quality self-tapes. We interview casting directors every few months and they constantly reinforce that they are happy with self-tapes as an alternative to professional footage. So I would find some great scenes you like and record them in a basic self-taping setup. Hope that helps!

MAKE IT BIG. All choices are life and death to the character at that moment in time. If you don't achieve your objective there must be a dire consequence for your character.......RAISE THE STAKES.
@StageMilkАй бұрын
Love this! Thank you for sharing and totally agree. I would just caution that BIG doesn't necessarily mean loud or extreme physically. A big choice can still be very simple and understated.

Excellent advice. But remember, there are rules..and rules Neo can be broken My " algorithm" make it fun for yourself and creativity,You will be more authentic, and won't worry about " their" expectations No one lost a job when the acting was good ,but the slate sucked

The lines from the tragedies and histories are great but my favourite monologue is from As You Like it, the best comedy. Orlando: Did you cure any so? Rosalind: Yes, one; and in this manner. He was to imagine me his love, his mistress; and I set him every day to woo me; at which time would I, being but a moonish youth, grieve, be effeminate, changeable, longing and liking, proud, fantastical, apish, shallow, inconstant, full of tears, full of smiles; for every passion something and for no passion truly anything, as boys and women are for the most part cattle of this colour; would now like him, now loathe him; then entertain him, then forswear him; now weep for him, then spit at him; that I drave my suitor from his mad humour of love to a living humour of madness; which was, to forswear the full stream of the world and to live in a nook merely monastic. And thus I cur'd him; and this way will I take upon me to wash your liver as clean as a sound sheep's heart, that there shall not be one spot of love in 't

Thank you for sharing these exercises! English is my second language and I am always wary that people may not understand me. On top of that I have started interviewing Sports People on my channel... Let's see how much my articulation and pronunciation improves over time. If anything, I am very consistent with my exercises.

I really don't understand how you can find a monologue that is 2 minutes long, because the ones I find always go into a dialog really quick
@StageMilk3 ай бұрын
@@Julia-ks5qu it can be tricky to find good monologues at specific lengths, but just keep searching and reading lots of plays. Don’t be afraid to cut/trim monologues as well
