Yeah man, I pay close attention to MPG in all the cars I’ve owned. I can tell you that my Audi A4 constantly beat the claimed MPG; especially on the highway. A Nissan Maxima and a Nissan Juke they both underperformed in MPG, badly. And on an on. This Genesis is usually really BAD when it’s all city. I think I say it in this video, like 14 MPG… my wife can go weeks without getting on the highway and this thing does poorly in city; highway and depending on how I drive it can meet and/or beat posted MPG. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What about the rear differential issues? people have replaced this part more then once after 25,000 km. Im hearingsny ppl trying to sell the car back to genesis under a lemon policy. I was looking to get this car buy lnkeing this part breaks down constantly and it 4600$ out of watrenty is crazy. Even it being covered under warranty is no solution. Being in the shop that frequent for a fix thst is simply bring in s new part just to have it break down again shortly after is mind blowing. Anyone go through this yet? Its all over Reddit..
@JuanCarlosLTO
@JuanCarlosLTO 13 күн бұрын
I haven’t had any differential issues. I am/was aware of the issue and still went with it. I believe that sometimes negative issues tend to be disproportionately mentioned in forums, etc. not to say they’re not true; I’m just saying that there has got to be an intrinsic bias in reporting negatives vs positives in any experience. It certainly didn’t dissuade me from buying one but would definitely understand if it did push away others. When I bought it, I intended to keep it past initial warranty but now I’m not so sure; modern vehicles are so over complicated and I wouldn’t like to be caught with a faulty digital display that as reported here by some viewers, is a $12k repair… imagine out of warranty? 😳 As far as out of schedule visits to the dealership: that number still stands at zero which is good.

In not sure the 400/430 presents an advantage to this one. Slightly more power but if this one is bad on gas, the V8 must be a thirsty dragon. Plus. Depending on the year it might default to being equipped with a navigation system that by now is completely useless. The 400 is more likely to have HID’s which is nice. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thank you for your valuable input. I see your channel is growing in subs. @JuanCarlosLTO
@JuanCarlosLTO 17 күн бұрын
@@jamesham3635 oh, it seems that, the intervals are based on the driving pattern. My wife drives it like 3 miles a day to and from work so I’m guessing that shortens the intervals. Right now it’s nearing 15k and it’s calling for another oil change soon. But it is a bit confusing and definitely not well integrated. There’s very poor communication between the app scheduling of service and what really happens. This last time I got a reply from my local Genesis and the advisor said they had openings 2 months away and when I told him I wanted to schedule a service appointment, he never replied 🤣… 🤷🏻‍♂️. I guess I’ll call one of these days to save a spot for whenever they can get me in.

Sorry to hear sbout your PSX hassles, as a recent seller on the Exchange I had no problem with my transaction. The person who eventually bought the car drove from 4 hrs away to pick it up because he believed the transaction would be honest and safe for both parties involved. When I listed the car for sale on all the regular used car sites I was getting a lot of low ball offers so that is why I decided to use PSX instead and I got more or less what I was asking. Your mileage may vary when using any used car site to buy or sell a vehicle, again sorry about your experience, thanks for posting the video.

Thanks for sharing. I am in the middle of trying to sell via PSX. I'll be honest, I put up my listing without really thinking through the myriad details that go into the transaction. The over-simplified explanation from the AT website gives the impression of simplicity and safety. What could go wrong? I'm more security conscious than most about interacting via the internet. Probably not unlike the older gentleman referenced, I don't do social media at all. I do my best to keep a low profile and really go into every transaction with a degree of mistrust. After all, this is 2024 and scammers are everywhere. Now that I've gotten an offer and really looked at AT's description of the process, I see room for a lot to go wrong. From either side of the transaction, there will come a moment when a degree of faith is needed. Handing over the key without a verified payment in my control (just AT saying they have the funds and will turn them over when buyer confirms custody doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling b/c by that point, my car is down the road to god knows where)... that would be a very stressful moment for me.

I paid $8000 for a 2001 gs300, 1 owner maintained its entire life at the dealer (with extensive records, recent timing belt, brake rotors/pdads, battery etc).. here in Florida... i think its worth paying a little more for well maintained vehicles...

That’s exactly my point. When I was young I would drive cars without any care, would fix things as they broke down and paid the price for it with multiple times getting stranded in the middle of the road etc. Now that I’m older I like to do preventative maintenance and avoid all that. I have a 1989 BMW with 250k miles and it has never left me stranded. Just sold a 2007 Acura with 245k and same thing, reliable cars and it’s all thanks to sound maintenance.

I've had my 2006 TSX for the last 12 years. It now has 199,000 milesand drives beautifully. But I wish I gotten rid of it back about 30,000 miles ago when one problem after another for a couple of years ended up costing me about $5,500 for repairs. Some of the parts that needed to be replaced: the entire A/C system, some coils, plugs some injectors, radiator, serpentine belt. I don't know if this will help you with your decision. The TSX is a terrific car, but it does start wearing out in serious ways when it reaches high mileage.

Thanks for your throughout comment! This car is now gone and I sold it with 245k on the odometer. I can see your experience from a different angle, not better or worse, just different: you’ve incurred in many expenses… but again, the car will continue to run for pennies on the dollar vs buying something new or newer. The AC is a recurring issue at around the 200k mark. I’ve seen it happen within my inner circle with Honda products of the mid 2000’s. I’d still argue that you did right by keeping the car. Sure it’s seemingly more expensive to maintain as it gets older but it’s still a bargain compared to what cars go for today. I replaced my TSX with an old Lexus with less than 100k so I got a car with more life left on the engine but I’m sure the peripherals will fail on me and I’m ready. Thank you again for your comment.

I ran a set of BC on my 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster. I wasn’t daily driving the car so I went with a slightly lower ride height (1 finger gap in the front & 2 finger gap in the back) The ride was definitely stiffer than stock, especially with the lower ride height which didn’t allow the suspension much travel, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. I enjoyed taking the car down back roads and honestly the only time the ride was harsh was over harsh bumps like a deep manhole cover. Even over cobblestone the ride was firm but comfortable and not bouncy. And again, I was significantly lower than you. I think they are a great set of coilovers for the price ($1,800).

$1800? Are you in Canada? Asking because in the USA they’re about $1200 USD just about across all vendors. Yeah, that’s the subjectivity of taste. I’ve had 3 BMW 3 series from different eras and the last one, an E90, had the M Sport Package so it was slightly lower and along with the stiffer suspension were the hard and bolstered seats. The car was gorgeous and drove nice but it would tire me out on longer trips. This Lexus is a couch on wheels and the BR made the ride a bit more “sporty” without being a beating. I’ll find out next month when I will do a 1600 mile round trip in 4 days if I didn’t ruin the comfort too much.

@@JuanCarlosLTO And yes, ride was firm, seats were firm, steering was hydronic and heavy, convertible top was loud, and you could hear all the workings of the transmission and differential as you drove down the road. When I finally sold it (100,000 miles on the clock) the guy said to me “this car isn’t going break down on me is it? Because I have to drive 700 miles back home”. Any similar experiences using these Michelin Primacy A/S tires? Tires tread just checked and still looks great.

I had a 3 series with the M Sport package and the suspension being sort of stiff plus the lower profile tires made for episodes, some scary, where we slipped sideways, once on an exit ramp, the slabs were not perfectly aligned, some lose gravel and the car lost grip and slid… I’m not sure if it can be attributed but 🤷🏻‍♂️ These tires did very well in heavy rain on my trip and in the few occasions of that we’ve driven it while it’s raining.
