That is NOT a "Wishlist"! Saving it to favs is of no value. Why? A Wishlist has, "add to wishlist + compare + quick view". You spent 10 minutes on what should be 3.

@SEO-Tom Hi there and thank you for your comment! Those are useful features indeed. Virtuemart includes a built-in product comparison feature. MyShortlist is a favorites extension and offers compatibility with dozens of different item types, so having a comparison feature is beyond the extension's main scope, but can be implemented if requested. This is the recording of an actual real life project, so I hope that explains the 10 minutes.

@michaelvanalphen2392 Well that is understandable. You can manage your database users using phpMyAdmin. Now, in order to connect to phpMyAdmin for the first time, it can be tricky. You should probably use root as username and an empty password, but don't use those for Joomla. You should create another user...

@mavrosxristoforos10 ай бұрын
Yes, of course. Joomla could give you a good amount of control over changing your information without editing HTML. However, you would have to convert your existing HTML into a Joomla template and then add the rest into content, like articles and modules. It is something you can do on your own if you have the time and already know HTML.

When creating a user in PHPmyAdmin, say "joomla" as you did, should the joomla user have all the privilages as a super user, or ...?

That is a very good question. I am accustomed to granting all privileges, but I cannot tell you for sure that this is mandatory. First off a great effort to debunk the most common misconceptions on this great and true CMS (Joomla). But even after subscribing and visiting your channel I have not found any single playlist or series on joomla extension development especially component development which is a core of joomla CMS. In my humble opinion, experienced veterans like yourself are one of the reasons why people are not coming or attracted or convinced to use joomla ( my apologies if you didn't like my argument ). I cant find a single properly organized series on joomla component development except for one made by "Biswarup Adhikari" on joomla 2.5. I was expecting some development tutorials alt least on your channel who has an experience of joomal exclusively for more than 15 years. Anyways, great work and keep doing great.

Security does not only depend on the actual version. Security depends on the right configuration of your CMS AND the server. It is not about just clicking some things together. You have to know what you are doing. Most hacked websites are actually a victim of poor security configurations.

I have been using Joomla CMS for a few years. I was wondering about this whole new updated Joomla 4 and now 5. Why is it that such amazing, brilliant Joomla developers and programmers, founders of open source Joomla software, cannot develop an import utility for those whom are using Joomla 3 to import their website content, database, template and hyperlinks into the new Joomla environment correctly?
@mavrosxristoforos Жыл бұрын
Well, to be honest, Joomla migrations have always been hard. However, what makes them so hard is usually the extensions and not the core. Migrating from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 is much easier than what it used to be, and there's a lot of effort to run extensive checks before the migration. That's why you should always pick your extensions carefully. At mavxr.com, we thrive to issue frequent updates in order to provide the best experience for our users.

I work for many years with both wordpress and joomla for my customers. I can underline all your statements 100%. Most problems definitely occur with wordpress. A plugin battle like no other. Back when I was creating my current website plugins like Yeost and Jetpack plus the shallower learning curve made Wordpress win out for me. I had tried both Joomla and Drupal before making the decision, but the sheer amount of help available for Wordpress won the day. However, some years on and I realise why so much help is available for Wordpress... Because things can go wrong unexpectedly and often. And some things I thought would be simple proved too hard without changing the way a template works radically. For instance, as Wordpress began life as a blogging platform, any subject division shows the latest article first. But I am a theologian writing subject articles or commentary articles on books of the Bible. As such, it makes more sense to keep the article selection in the same order as written and not the reverse order that is created by latest first. The latest article links would only be needed on the front page, but once a subject page has been selected, you need to overhaul it manually to make things appear in the order you want. In the latest iteration of the site, I gave up on that... That's where the inbuilt flexibility of Drupal excels. BUT the learning curve of that platform is still the steepest of all. Yes, I could go through the training, the various online courses about it, etc, etc. But it is so much more developer oriented than creator oriented that it's something I don't have sufficient time to develop the skills for. If I had the patience for it, it would definitely be the best solution, but the work level... no thanks! So that has me looking at Joomla once again. I hear that some are even experimenting with AI site creation for it, but that's not something going to swing me. For me it is the way that plugins have to be sandboxed from everything else and have to work more strictly in the Joomla framework, so that a bug in a plugin or an update to a plugin is not going to break your site (this has happened to me several times in Wordpress. The advice from "WPFixIT that I should always wait 2 weeks at least before upgrading anything is something I found worrying. After all, many updates are to plug security holes - so I should deliberately leave my site vulnerable for at least 2 weeks? Not ideal!). Thanks for this. Good video!
