What kind of cast net do you recommend for me? I’ve tried there, and haven’t caught any, they get spooked away, maybe my mesh is too small and it doesn’t fall fast enough or it’s not heavy enough? It’s a six footer
@TheLostAnchovy16 күн бұрын
I think min is 5 ft net I go 6-7 ft myself . And get the lead core one not the plastic weights. 3/8” mesh is good

Any beaches recommendation around Half Moon Bay for crab snaring?
@TheLostAnchovy16 күн бұрын
I think people snare at rock away beach. Give that a try or on Pacifica pier. The popular place is ocean beach of course

"SECRET" Really? One of the first things I learned about ocean fishing 40 years ago is to time it with the tides! But this is a typical KZbinr's title strategy now days... Make you think that they just discovered something to get more views! Good video but your title... Not so much!

Maybe when the tide went out the bait scent went out with it and lured in the crabs that were more offshore
@TheLostAnchovy25 күн бұрын
They tend to stay around the same depth. They don’t really move all that much within a single day. It’s just the tide let up or starting to move and it drove their feeding instincts.

Hey Chovy I went out with my brother from Bodega the day before you and we had the exact same scenario. For hours we pulled empty pot after pot. We kept moving around. I've never pulled so many times without a crab. Not even a little one. Then we started getting several at a time but mostly in a very concentrated spot at the exact time of the tide you showed! We ended with 17, but I was beat from pulling all day. So interesting to see you have the same experience 60 miles away. We could have easily gone home empty if we didn't stick it out.... Like you said, same thing with halibut and rock fish. Except the rockies like the tide moving.
@TheLostAnchovy27 күн бұрын
That's what I'm talking about - the tide changes everything! Don’t know exactly when they will go or what side of the tide but just gotta grind it if you don’t wanna come home empty handed

Way to stick it out and go with your instincts. Its been a weird start to the crab season. Experiencing same thing in Bodega. Only thing consistent is the inconsistency. I like to pull them about 15-30mins after the switch in the tide. "Saves heart aches for everyone", that was perfectly said about the buoys in the jetty entrance. Always enjoy the videos!
@TheLostAnchovy27 күн бұрын
