I am confused about why at 29:37, it's not (60/40)/(200/160). I would appreciate it if Dr. Neil or someone else kindly explains. Thank you :)

A cohort study starts with a population that is free of the disease at the beginning and is divided into groups based on their exposure status. Here the exposure is pet/non-pet. It sounds also like longitudinal observation, too. I hate epidemiology :(

5:44 can anyone help me understand why the left pedigree is X linked in the mother at the top is affected? Isn’t the criteria sons from unaffected parents? Thanks 🙏🏼
@Doinmabestt
@Doinmabestt Күн бұрын
X linked recessive moms can be carriers or diseased Scenario 1 : Mom is aa (have the disease) both X will give rise to the disease. So all she can give is an ‘a’ and all sons will be affected. Scenario2 mom is a carrier (doesn’t show symptoms/ aka unaffected) this means she’s Aa So there will be a chance that some of her sons will take the X that is healthy ‘A’ and the other sons will take the ‘a’ X so they develop the dz. Hope this is clear to understand

You should do more of these life advice videos Dr Neil, I enjoy them and one of your advices helped me during my prep a lot, quoting it for others who may need it “Don’t let your past beat you twice!”

Love your series. Regarding your final statement on pregnant patients refusing care for the fetus, ....apparently (and sadly) THAT is no longer as straight forward an answer as you gave from 4 years ago.

Super helpful video! One thing I wanted to add to the esophageal question, they likely put it C. A1-antitrypsin deficiency because the accumulation of ATT in the liver can cause hepatitis or liver cirrhosis. Wouldn't change the answer choice but I think it's worth mentioning.

5:26 The phrasing mislead me or I misinterpreted it. "What percentage of prostate cancer can be attributed to elevated PSA" sounds to me as how many cases can be attributed to elevated PSA. Should it not be "How much more risk does a patient have if they have an elevated PSA?". There is also a type of question that does not ask ARP, but focuses on RR. If the baseline risk is 100%, patients with an elevated PSA have 300% [more] risk. If you could clear that up, that would be awesome. Your videos are gold, btw.
