I would love to see inside the tank of this toilet. If the tank is covered in black mold it could be the reason the bowl has the black mold ring. Home Depot sells a bleach that is stronger than the grocery store kind. A clean tank could lead to a cleaner bowl.

The water does it! After my chlorine tablets disolve in a few weeks the ring comes back, so it's the water! I would never use abrasives.

It’s a result of hard water… That tank needs to be cleaned out, not just the toilet bowl..

They all worked. They removed the ring. The bowl needs to be cleaned regularly because it accumulates a ring. It’s like complaining that your car got dirty a week after washing it.

Make sure you are never using bleach with ANYTHING that may contain ammonia (glass cleaners, etc). The combination will produce chloramine gas which can damage your lungs and even result in death.

I have a suggestion for those that know what this product is and what it can do - Muriatic Acid or hydrochloric acid (same product). It is available in hardware stores, home centers and other places. I hate the smell because it is airborne acid and it can take your breath away. You need to vent the bathroom when using it and a good idea for his is an open window and a fan. Gloves are necessary. Also if you have a respirator that is for fumes such as this would be a good thing to use. I cleaned a toilet that was close to 50 years old by removing it and doing the work outdoors. It only required application and a stiff bristle plastic brush. Some small amounts of the acid may be available with a squirt top but I feel they are a thing of the past. It works by just being on the surface. I used the garden hose to flush out the acid and to dilute it in the area where I was working. No plants died. The water used in this toilet what treated by the city for high iron content as it was a sea town on the east coast. It did so well, I removed the wall hung sink and did it as well. Ten years later, no discoloration. Every location is different due to the mineral content in the tap water. Pitting will always collect things you don't want but the acid will remove the discoloration way more effectively than the techniques in this video. Be safe.

We have 4 toilets and 3 are about 5 years old. The one we kept is about 45 years old. We changed them for better water savings. So, the 3 new ones all have this ring problem. The original one does not have this ring problem at all. I am going to say they are not making these as good as the old ones. Must be using less material or an inferior product. So don't blame yourselves blame the manufacturers.

I'm curious if it would work to super-clean the toilet, then add a ceramic coating like used for vehicles. I'm not sure how long this would last - maybe quite some time - maybe not very. But filling those pores with a new ceramic coating might prevent the ring from coming back?

Hi ! It's me again: After I placed a very thin coat of something ( I will only tell what it is if somebody asks me) beginning three weeks ago, there is still NO toilet bullring stain appearing. BUT during the next three weeks will be the absolute perfect conclusive testing to see how well what it was I put on the toilet bowl ring stained area truly works at preventing ring stains from reappearing! So, have I actually figure out how to stop the toilet bowl stains from reappearing?! And, if this keeps working perfectly well, can I sell it online and make a fortune?!

When we use Barkeepers Friend, we use a cloth, rather than anything abrasive. The product is supposed to have a very low abrasive and using something that’s more abrasive with it kind of defeats the main advantage of the product.

only way I can keep mine at bay (older toilet, hard well water) is to be sure to swish the toilet bowl nearly daily with at least the toilet brush. give it a good clean weekly and then about every 4 weeks or so be sure to deep clean the toilet and tank with some bleach, and I wax the ring area with car wax or white paraffin to fill in the pits. I'm not the original owner of the home so I'm not sure what their cleaning routine was, but I am ready to replace both toilets in the house simply because I am tired of devoting a couple hours a week solely to cleaning the porcelain poop shoots. Replacing them would give me a clean slate to work with so I can keep up with them more easily than dealing with the previous owners left over mess. I spent literal hours when I moved cleaning the toilets alone, because they had this ring that developed really quickly and the same ring occurs under the lip of the toilet where the water drains from the tank into the bowl, so there has to be some kind of nasty bacterial/mold colony within that water distribution channel at the top of the bowl that I have yet to find a way clean effectively, and having septic I don't want to do the blue stuff or put Clorox pucks in the tanks all the time.

Pour citric acid in your toilet & the tank & an hour later the ring is gone & you only have to do it once a month.
@dix_pack_of_sixie27 күн бұрын
It is the mineral content of the water itself that is the culprit. My guess off the cuff is that this home has a well and water softener, and the softener likely has not been maintained properly. Backflushing the filter on the softener is a must to clear the filter material of mineral deposits. If the water was properly softened, this would go away.

BUT, after spending about 20 or 30 minutes removing the old crusty toilet bowl ring stain, how do you either stop the toilet bowl ring stain from reappearing or make it extremely easy to clean it off next time? ANSWER: First, was making it so hard to remove that ring stain? Calcium buildup becomes as hard as a rock and sticks to slick services like superglue. So, all you have to do is purchase some Synthetic Lubricant that comes in a small tube at a hardware store. Then, using your fingertip, spread a very thin coat of it directly on top of where you expect the ring stain to appear again at. This Synthetic Lubricant is crystal clear and WILL stay attached to the surface of the porcelain bowl until you wipe it off. Then, as your ring stain builds up enough to become an eyesore, simply take a paper towel and wipe it off. That’s it! Problem of how to remove those crusty ring stains within seconds has been solved! Also, just after you finish wiping the ring stain off the Synthetic Lubricant coated surface the first two or three times, a light film of the Synthetic Lubricant will remain on the surface. But soon after that you will have to reapply another very thin coat.

Today is 11-26-24 (3 weeks since I put a thin coat of a certain type of synthetic grease were the ring appears) and NO stain has yet appeared And now I can make a million $ selling it BUT I don't want to and I will let someone else sell it
