Okay, this lets me know that I've been waayy too thorough in the past when cleaning for friends, lol. I would take out each and every drawer and clean every surface I could possibly wipe except the bottom, and I would clean the backs and sides of the cabinets as well as the shelving. Also, the fridge would be pulled out and cleaned behind. This lets me be able to breathe a little, and know that I don't need to be such a chronic perfectionist, it will save time, and everyone will still be happy, lol.

Great video, thank you for the tips! As a fellow professional cleaning engineer I would suggest an apron (Great for holding that handy scraper, detail brushes, etc) and thin latex gloves- it is important to run your hand over the surfaces as the eyes don’t always tell the truth-safety and saving steps

I used to clean for a properties . She did good . I don't like the shaking of dust or dirt down to the floor for a few reasons, one it is gonna get kicked back around and up against the cabinets not to mention stuck to the floor while you're walking on it regardless of the fact that you're replacing the floor . Also she had an opportunity with the canister vacuum to suck it up , with a brush attachment preferably . As far as the drawers there are professional brushes similar to a toothbrush that should be used in the drawers after an initial first vacuum then brush and vacuum again , then clean them . The windows should be done with paper towels and corner to corner , I'm sure when those dried they were somewhat streaky. Also I didn't see her clean the plastic strip around the edges of the refrigerator , that can hide a lot of dirt. P.S. Dark cleaning rags are not a good choice .

@justjessy0115
@justjessy0115 4 жыл бұрын
As a professional, you should have them wear a mask (from the chemicals & dust) & gloves from any chemicals. No matter how safe they are for wood cabinets, it doesn't include skin contact, gloves should always be a must. It should not be optional no matter how "safe or non toxic" you assume the chemicals are because you believe the label. Everyone's skin & sensitivity is different so it should be a part of your safety & healthy training process.

@maidtrainingacademy5213
@maidtrainingacademy5213 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Selda. Gloves are an option anytime you clean and should always be worn with harsh chemicals. In this video we don't discuss in detail the products used but they are all green and non-toxic. We have surveyed hundreds of professional maids and the vast majority don't use gloves, except with harsh chemicals. Here are some of their comments, "They make my hands sweat if worn for long periods of time and will slip off.", "They raise the core temperature of the person where they feel hot all over like wearing a hat." "It is hard to feel items to make sure they are clean." "Gloves rip if worn very long doing this type of work, and they go through lots of gloves during the cleaning." Thanks for watching and keep the feedback coming.

Did you guys clean the light fixtures off camera? I clean the light fixtures on deep cleans and move in/move out cleans or at the client request. How do you clean blinds? The cheaper plastic ones I would rather replace them then take them down and spray with cleaner then sit them in the bath tub or take outside let them sit and go back and spray with hose or shower hose. If I don’t have a hose I fill the bath tub with water and rinse off that way and to dry the blinds I take outside and let them hang or if no hanger I lay big towels down and set blinds on that to dry. The newer wood blinds I don’t take down I dust first then go back and wipe with a damp microfiber cloth either way it’s not my favorite thing to do!

We have been teaching since 2012. Our classes include time ranges on all rooms and range of conditions and frequencies. Move in and Move out are completed the same way although move-outs tend to require more time. We do not instruct on construction clean up. As as indicated in our introduction before all videos, out training program is robust. Videos only show some of those conditions and situations. If you are referencing the microwave on the counter, the argument could be made to remove the item or even slide it but that microwave is not small, the counter space is tight and as a general rule you don't move items that may result in a damage claim. That microwave is large and bulky for one person to lift off. If you have a partner, they may help you move it, but it is a judgement call either way. At Maid Training Academy we teach to not move the frig away from the wall for the same reason. Some refrigerators could be easily moved out, but that is not common in the industry and it opens up more challenges. Thanks Pie Nash for your comment as I am sure others would wonder why as well. :)

Any *Cleaning Employers* here care to chime in? I'm a man living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm looking to change careers from construction worker to house cleaner. I have zero experience in cleaning and janitorial work. I'm looking for realistic advice from an employer in a cleaning company. How would you recommend getting hired for a housekeeping position? Take a cleaning course? If so, which one? Would you actually consider someone in my position? I took the initiative to get a criminal record check for myself and have watched many hours of cleaning videos online. But that's really all I have going for me at the moment, no courses. I am willing to take a course, if I'm not wasting my time.

In addition this lady use the same rag to clean a dirty cabinets outside , molding on the bottom and the same rag cleaning inside the cabinets. I don’t see any drying, I don’t see any disinfecting. I do like that she use both hands and I love it how she protects the Surfaces. I do not like heating water and later waste it by dumping in the drain. She could use that water for cleaning. Overall it’s OK but I will have to do it over by disinfecting all the surfaces inside the shelves and drawers.

Bump your brakes Mary. One of the challenges of video class is that it does not address all the reasons we do things, our certification classes do. These classes are not just about cleaning your home as a home owner, these are classes for maid companies and professional cleaners cleaning a customer's home. This is a Move-In/Out clean. The condition of the vent can vary from normal to horrific. Most maid companies price jobs over the phone or online and don't see or ask questions about the condition of the range hood filter. Washing a greasy filter in a dishwasher is NOT recommended. Depending on how greasy the filter is, it could leave a greasy film on the inside of the dishwasher. And since the inside of the dishwasher is included in a Move-In/Out, that would be counter productive. We don't carry dish washing detergent and the home should be empty so running the dishwasher is not an option. The most common recommendation is soaking the screens in a bucket or sink with de-greasing dish soap, then scrubbing. However, this can lead to tears in the filters and yes customers would expect us to replace the filter since we damaged the screen. The most common filter costs $5. On a Move-In/Out, the homeowners have, so far, been very receptive to our recommendation to buy a new filter.
@talla2315
@talla2315 6 жыл бұрын
Maid Training Academy now your talking , you previously said you tell them to change the filters,which is wrong, people should clean ,not change them because they are dirty, and if you put them in the dishwasher after you fried something ,it's ok but if they have never washed them before , you then soak them.
