Hey Jake, great video. Quick question in min 40:53 you mentioned that is important to have FB CAPI in case IOS or something else blocked the pixel. You said FB will automatically use the fbc for matching the conversion with our ads. What I am wondering is do we need to be following the UTM structure GHL gives in your other video for the conversions to properly be attributed. We currently have campaign, adset, and ad name setup

How can I send the correct conversion value to facebook, considering that the client may have used a coupon code, or bought the bump product together? Currently on facebook API, we need to set up a value manually but if I input $100 for example and the client buys the bump product, the conversion value would be wrong. Please help**

@@susannahhofheins351 Yes! So long as you are using GHL forms, to capture the native attribution, this works on Wordpress, Squarespace etc. I will say.. WIX has issues. If you are using Wix, chances are you are going to have attribution problems.

Hi Jake, thanks for taking your time to create such a helpful video. I have one quick question... When setting up your facebook campaign at on adset level, what should you set as the conversion? should I choose the CAPI funnel event, or the browser pixel event?

@@RemyGaskell Hey! Glad the video helped! I typically send browser pixel events and down funnel events via capi as the same conversions event (when applicable). The quickest answer I can give without knowing your use case is.. use the most down funnel conversion event you have, and if you are splitting your pixel and capi conversions to different events, use the one with more. Not necessarily the best solution for all, but it’s the one I would typically recommend.

Hey Jake, thanks for the clear explanations. My funnel is in GHL. If a user makes a purchase, I can fire the CAPI purchase event in Workflows however Meta doesn't seem to receive any of the parameters like the customer's name, email, gender etc. Therefore, the Pixel can't really optimise for my audience. I'm quite astounded this is the case. And I'm wondering how you're working around this?

@@Adzdachilla Hey, the conversion event workflow action that sends via capi is utilizing data directly pulled from the pixel (whether it’s fbc, fbp or the eventID (if you have that set up), and feeding it back to meta, so meta knows exactly who they are. If you want to build custom audiences, you can do that with the data inside of GHL, and feeding those audiences. I’ve done workarounds for lead events that pass through client info (fn, ln, ph etc) parameters to the pixel, so the pixel will have that info, but I don’t think it’s that necessary. Beyond that, if you watch the last few minutes of this video, there is a guide on how to send your own custom events and include info like ph and em (and fn/ln if you want as well). Hope this helps!

@@SebastianSchubertZA Yes, absolutely! There are a few caveats (if they are navigating around your site, you could lose attribution as an example), but this video is based on using a wordpress site with a GHL form.

Great tutorial! I'm getting an error with the Google ads script. In the video it looks like you added the script without changes. The GHL help doc says: "The only thing that needs to be changed in this script is the URL for the tracking page, which should match the one used by your website". I cant find where in the script to swap this?

@@usasearch-1 Hey! So the script itself contains {lpurl} which swaps out the url with the “landing page url” - so as long as you have already set your campaign landing page urls, you should be fine. As for the errors - you will get errors on older campaigns that are no longer running, along with any campaigns that don’t have adgroups (IE: DemandGen and/or PMAX campaigns) - for those you have to set the tracking template manually on the campaign level. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have been using workarounds with other software tools for coming up on a year. Very happy to finally get all this properly set up in GHL!

i got the Google Ads workflow skipped due to this error: "This workflow action requires contacts created from Google Ads. The error is because the gclid attribution parameter was not present from the page-visit". Quick question: You mentioned that GHL relies on GCLID right? I am trying to POST the GCLID through API using external forms. So it has Name, email and GCLID. But for some reason, i can't create a custom field named "GCLID", and how should be the data format in this scenario?

@@alihussain_0 Hey, I do this through a custom python script built specifically by sub account. I essentially force a fake form fill through the system to create attribution and gclid capture. That’s your best way to go about it. It needs to be captured natively, not in a custom field.

Hmm. Have you sent a conversion in? Sometimes all it takes is an actual conversion sent to have your conversion go from active to inactive. Beyond that, do you see the conversion available in the workflow step to send it?

@@AdrianDubon Hey, good question! You can add any new contact to a pipeline using that exact trigger - Call Status. You want to filter it down to "Call Direction - Incoming." You can also filter down further based on the number the called, or in the case of a number pool - the number pool they called. You can also utilize the query paramters (IE: ) that the number pool is capturing to filter them in a workflow step later in the workflow/automation. Hope that makes sense!

After completing this exact setup I have a button next to my offline conversion in Google Ads saying 'Set up import' but when I click on it it gives me a bunch of other apps I could use to set it up. I am wondering should I just leave it like that because it will work anyway or do I have to 'Set up import' somehow?

@@zoranbester Leave it. The integration will automatically fire as long as you have the automations set up in GHL. You should be good to go! Once you fire a conversion back, give it a day or so to propagate. Let me know how it goes!

@@jgehersky Perfect, thanks. I did a test with random gclid i created just for the test. It showed me there was an error, but I assume that is because Google doesn't recognize this random gclid. So once the real conversion comes in it should work fine. Thanks

@@BAdam-xx3ju Hey, thanks for the sub! Quick answer is yes. As long as you are hashing any personal data, you can use the webhook to send conversions. Personal data includes email, phone, first name (fn) and last name (ln) etc.

What if the client is not happy with a phone number changing with every page load and wants to keep his business number as it is? Is there other way to track phone calls attribution in GHL?

@@zoranbester Short answer is no. The way I typically explain it to clients is this: “If 4 people come to your website at the same time, and they all see the same number, but only 2 of them call in, which ad did those two come from? The number that ends up ringing is still your same number, and your number is still there in the background, always.” If you wanted to use one static number, without going too deep into it, you would need a single page lander for every ad you create, and a unique phone number for each.

Hey Jake. Great video! I noticed you pasted the gtm code into the wordpress header-but in the ghl exampl you only put the meta pixel code in and then changed the events on each page accordingly. Is it ok to instead put tag manager code into ghl and specify the tags and triggers like youd like to fire on each page instead? thanks

So it would it just be gtm in the header and base code -then just have capi already set up and have the desired events selected in there(capi) and then just create tags for all of them -along with the workflows to push the data back to meta?

@@TravisPhillips-ey5pi Yeah. Many different ways to do it within GTM, but it looks like you understand it well enough. So long as you are firing triggers for specific tags when specific pages are hit, or specific events are happening, you should be good to go.

Google is requiring me to set up a zapier integration and only giving me a facebook lead as an example to pull data through so they don't have an associated gclid. Still having continuous issues with Google ads and Gohighlevel unfortunately.

@@MohammedElmubayed The way the conversionAPI works is that it will only attribute leads back based on that fbp/fbs and/or an eventID. Because of this, there will be no attribution to the ads themselves if the lead didn’t come from the ad. You are basically just feeding the pixel/dataset more info about the type of people who become leads/appointments/clients. Not telling Facebook that the lead came from that specific ad. Facebook will determine that on their own. Does that make sense?

I’ve submitted 3 comments now with questions that you then immediately answered after I asked. 😂 This is the best video I’ve seen for understanding the differences between tracking code, workflows for funnel actions, and workflows for lead actions 2 questions: 1. Is there a way for workflows to send custom conversions? 2. Would you ever use event set up helper? It seems if I do this then I could send more granular data to Facebook like button clicks, form views, or is that more granular than I need to be?

Also, using the event set up tool is fine - it just doesn’t recognize form submission clicks if you are using an form from GHL on a wordpress site - I probably should have gone over that in the video 😅. @@KevserKurt-os8ni Hey, you can likely go through customer support to try to get that done, but you can’t do it yourself. You also want to make sure your number pool is routing to a number that you don’t have in GHL, or your routing will break.

@@owenelkjaer Not quite sure what you mean. The way it works is, a JavaScript swaps out the number that is on your page with a specific number only shown to that visitor, so - if they are the only person to see it, and they call it, the attribution will track back to that exact caller, if that makes sense. It’s not enough to just have one static number if you want to know exactly which ads your calls are coming from (and to be able to capture the attribution natively so you can send conversions back in the future)

can regular toll free or a2p number not track within ghl? is that where number pools com in play? If i use a2p number on my website doesnt it show within ghl how many times its been called or when a lead has called that number? Or is it best to use a number pool on a website or funnel even if i only need one number because there si more tracking capabilities with it over a toll free or a2p?

@@flu-flamer If you are running ads to one specific landing page, and you only have one ad, you can assume that all calls to that number came from your ad. Otherwise, you will only know where they came from if you utilize a number pool to capture the url of the page they are calling from. Basically, if you have a site that has multiple pages people can navigate to, or if you have multiple ads running to the same page, you will want a number pool. Beyond that, you won’t get any native attribution if you aren’t using a number pool, so you would have to create your own reports with custom fields. The native GHL reporting won’t work for you. Nice video! Is it always possible to use custom values for Facebook pixel ID and Access token in GHL automations? A mini tracking course including GHL snapshots for tracking would be nice if you had for sale. You don't use server side tracking?

@@antonmarklund2678 Thanks man! Anywhere where custom values can be used, you can use the custom values for pixelid and access token. I haven’t tested it on those new events that I briefly touched on in the vid. I don’t consider myself an expert on server side tracking (I’m learning!) and I’ve seen and heard good things about Stape. A lot of what I build is based around “offline” type conversions - so brick and mortar or service based businesses where there are down funnel events that need to be tracked, not just website based online events.

Thanks for the video! since I'm using highlevel and I'm planning to import conversions from my crm to google ads and create a call extension tracking conversion is it necessary for me to also setup the following 2 call tracking conversions, 1.Calls to a phone number on your website tracking conversion (where you paste a snippet copied from google to your site or landing page)) and 2.Clicks on your number on your mobile website tracking conversion (where you also have to paste a code snippet copied from google to your site or landing page) ?

@@LuyandaShange-z9k Hey! Short answer is..yes. It’s helpful to have the data, whether or not you use it as primary. Long answer; I’m not a huge fan of call extensions (mainly because they are notoriously difficult to attribute). You don’t need to create a conversion to track calls from your website. If you are using number pools and capturing attribution, you can send those in as lead conversions (can even put a time duration filter) - Having a website tracking script/conversion tag for specific clicks to call on your website, especially for mobile, is also beneficial.

@@popocaboudoir Hard to diagnose without seeing your setup. If your tracking templates are set up correctly, and there are query parameters in the URL that are captured by the form, it will track properly. Likely to be breakage somewhere within those 2 things.

@@fearghalindigital9291 Not natively within GHL. Not yet, at least. I’ve done this by utilizing sheets, and having the data push to AdWords daily.

@@jgehersky hey brother I did everything here. The only issue when running the script, it shows me error. I see its because its running on old campaigns that are not enable. @@AdrianDubon Hey, that’s usually why you will get errors. They typically won’t hurt anything, so I would just keep an eye on your tracking as leads are coming in, to make sure they are attributing properly. Another reason errors happen is if you have campaigns that don’t have adgroups (IE: PMax or DemandGen campaigns). For those 2 campaign types, specifically, you will need to go in and add static tracking templates on the campaign level.

Question, what would you put the conversion value as if it really varies depending on the job. for example roofing, jobs can be $200 - $50,000? is there a way of changing the value before you push it back to google

@@christianbragg22 This is a really great question. Unfortunately, values don’t pass through to AdWords at the moment. I had this exact issue with a client, tried seeing if the opportunity value would pass through - it wouldn’t. We ended up pushing data out from highlevel to a Google sheet and having AdWords pull the conversions from that sheet to capture values.

@@christianbragg22 Tag manager can only handle “online” events. If you want to optimize for more down funnel offline events (IE: A job scheduled, or quoted, or money collected) you would take this route.

@@jgehersky Hi Jake, is there a way of testing this before it live? I'm using tag manager for this and debugging mode doesn't detect anything. It just says "inactive" under the status in google ads. Also, will Google know to not count conversions that haven't come from google ads? Thanks I appreciate any help here

@@christianbragg22 Hey Christian, you can submit a test lead and walk it through your process, to see if it fires. Conversions usually take around 24 hours to show in the AdWords platform. If you’ve just sent something recently, give it a bit of time. Also, the system will only send conversions where the GCLID was captured natively, so you want to make sure your tracking templates are set up properly. If there is no gclid, the conversion will fail. You can check execution logs within your automation/workflow to see what is going through.
