A lot of the time with stuff like this I can separate the art from the artist but I just can't with Lost Prophets. They had some great songs that I just can't listen to anymore. Fucking Ian, whatta cunt.

I played with lost prophets in Sheffield back in the day. They were arrogant beyond belief. And their music is pretty basic pop tinged nu metal. Really don’t understand this level of praise, they were always going to be a forgettable band.

There’s nothing wrong with listening to the Lostprophets. You should be able to separate the “art” from the “artist”

Lostprophets were my first gig at about 13 years old. God I felt weird when I heard the news, and they were just on track to hit some form of mainstream at the time too….

Being in a band with him , they had to have known him well enough to know what he was doing to children. The fact that they were okay with him doing that so that they could become rich and famous is horrible. They got exactly what they deserved. In my opinion , they should be charged as accessories to his crimes.

This guy is full of it. It was an open secret that IW was taking advantage of underage fans. The rest of LP likely did not know about the extent of the infant/ child abuse. But they would have known IW was committing statutory rape, at the very least. They just chose to ignore it. Plus, Joanne Mjadzelics, the woman who exposed IW's crimes. She told LP and IW's family about his crimes, numerous times. She tried to warn them. So they had been warned he was abusing kids, they just chose to ignore it to keep their livelihood. They are absolutely not victims in this scenario.

Ona lower scale ..I was an independent artist and I had a song on dsp's which was doing ok....then an article came out in the news on the guy who produces the record that he was charged with sexually abusing minors and possession and making of CP. I literally had to erase the Song from DSPs and just pretend that song was never made. I never even knew the guy on a personal level but the thought of me being associated with that just sickened me to the stomach. People that do those kinda egregious crimes do not deserve to ever set foot outside of jail again.

Utter crap, it was all over forums back in the day and he openly bragged about the shit he got up to with young girls. No way they didn’t know, but Ian was the front man and the guy that drew the fans in. They f**king knew. Years before he arrested it was common knowledge, like Saville he was the money making machine and protected.

The real tragedy here is not that some mediocre, unoriginal band has lost their income- plenty of bands spilt up and have to go back to regular means of earning money. They would have been OK. No, it's not fair that the remaining LP members got their names dragged into it. BUT. It was well known in the South Wales rock/ hardcore music scene that LP/ IW had a devotional, almost cult-like relationship with their mainly young, female fanbase. It was unhealthy and weird even before the horrific crimes were being committed. The other LP members would have been well aware of this. IW gained access to fans' children because of the types of relationships they had with fans. No, I don't believe they knew about the most horrific abuse of infants and children, but it was known that IW had weird sexual relations with (underage) fans. When the charges were first made public, I wasn't shocked as I assumed he'd been caught with an underage fan. And Joanne, IW's ex, told his family and the bandmates that he was abusing kids, multiple times. They had been told, they just didn't believe it. Or want to believe it. There is some whitewashing going on here.

The band were in a place where they would have done the summer festival circuit as 2nd from last or headliners of any stage and that was gonna be their retirement fund... they didn't even have to release new music, they could have all lives nice lives of 6-7 festival dates a year, and that c**t fucked it for everyone.

When you think of the most iconic bands of that era - that amazing, special, emotional, raw era - of music, Lost Prophets are right up there. It's awful that the art is lost because of one man being a despicable thunderc*nt.

I know a few people who knew the band aswell. They say kinda the same thing. Only thing that strikes me as being a bit strange, is that A LOT of people knew what Ian was doing outside of the band, so why did the band have no clue at all? Its not their fault at all for his crimes and i agree that they shouldnt be punished for it, but they definitely knew something was going on man. When Ian got beat up over missing a gig i think there might of been other things going on aswell, to react like that

Iv got a mate in a similar situation, took a lot of the brunt from the public and people we know along with the rest of his family because his brother committed a murder, lost a niece in the process horrible shame wouldn’t say boo to a goose but that’s just how people think unfortunately

My friend took her teenage daughters and their friends to see Lost Prophets and they all had their photos taken with Watkins. Luckily, my friend never let the girls out of her sight.

Nah. Sorry. I've played in bands, and it's one of the rawest experiences out there. You rapidly learn who the alky is (me) who the druggies are, and you DEFINITELY learn who the perves are. They knew. They may not have had proof, but they knew.

If it had been a drummer, or a bass player they might have pivoted and moved on but lyrics get in your head. I feel genuinely sorry for the other guys as Ian is a monster, and when wives sometimes aren't aware of their partner's sexual crimes band mates have nothing to answer for.
