Interesting take, for sure. I have played competitive golf for over 30 years, not sure I would use this as a method to achieve ball "compression", but if it works, knock yourself out.
@davefinkgolfsАй бұрын
It’s all about finding what works for you, and that’s the beauty of the game.
@squidly2112Ай бұрын
@@davefinkgolfs - that is true .. I have been training for some 35 years.
@davefinkgolfsАй бұрын
yeah you said that already. assuming you aren’t very good at competing bc we have never heard of you.
@squidly2112Ай бұрын
@@davefinkgolfs - I haven't competed professionally, only amateur .. would have had to start when I was about 3yrs old to be professional, at least these days. My point was that I have trained, quite extensively, for that number of years. I have studied the golf swing very deeply and extensively, hundreds of professionals (most you do know). Have been involved in thousands of hours of swing analysis and biomechanics around the game of golf. While you have shown what might be a good drill for developing the skills to obtain compression, it might be nice to include the physical technical aspects of what compression really is. That could be helpful to help the audience understand what is really meant by "compression" of the golf ball and how it is applied, after all, that is the ultimate goal. Why do we want compression? .. what does it do? .. How does someone know when they have achieved compression? .. what is the optimal compression? .. is more compression always desired? .. in what circumstances might one not want compression? .. when would someone want extensive compression? .. how can one obtain compression with different forms of ball flight? .. is compression applicable with specialty shots (sand, flop, pitch, chip, knockdown, stinger, lofted) .. how does compression affect spin rate? .. how to control compression and still obtain desired spin rate? .. and much much more. There is a LOT more to this subject than just trying to compress the ball. One must understand the underlying mechanics of what compression really is, how your particular type of ball and clubs affect compression in addition to the application of your clubhead to the ball. Your entire swing affects your compression, especially angle of attack, acceleration, release and shaft lean.

What?!?!?! That is NOT how you use a hammer. You use your whole arm? The nail would not go in straight that way and thats why people slice. You have to un-cock your wrists and early. It’s all in the forearm and wrists. Good golfers release like crazy and have to dial it back in.
