I suggest we call it Distributed-Clustered-Connected Leadership. Distributed in a sense that processes are Deming style, Senge/System Thinking defined, Socio-Technical theory enabled. Clustered, Kazuo Inamori's Amoeba Management, Theory of Constraints/POOGI coordinated, Transparency, Aligned to achieve Flow/Purpose Connected in a sense that there is Syndicate style sharing of business intelligence/challenges/experiences/solutions, whilst at the same B2B Distributed-2-Distributed collaboration.

basically, it's imperative to be curious and open minded about the world. It is a personality trait. You need to be someone that gets curious about random things and people around the world and want to learn as much as they can about it. This gets added into their repertoire and one day, when a problem comes up, you will need to be resourceful and all that random knowledge and experience will make sense in that moment. It will all come together.

Relieved of his command for verbally attacking his Commander in Chief. Same thing happened to MacArthur, another general who believed he was more important than the mission.

Such an amazing story. Great insight “ how can I make a difference in the world ?” rather than « how can I please everybody » . It relates to the work of Eric Berne (the drivers) … this course must be amazing. Seeing through the different lenses.

As an engineer working for big bank, I know we go backwards and far from being innovative. We have more procedures, limitations, audits rather than new tools, discussions and ideas. I want to show it to everyone that I work together.

Always good to see someone with a sense of responsibility for getting results. Gen. McChrystal shows a curiosity, that's so easy to engage someone with, with questions. Great insights on how to avoid the communication gap between levels in a hierarchy. Guarding trust is critical. And key is respecting others to get the best out of them. Transformational leadership is hard no matter what, gotta have some wins to bolster the difficulties and keep people buying in.... Awesome to see the General putting empathy as the most important attribute.
