Hi Jen and Dr Bathe, I had a biopsy done and my nodules came back cancerous, one at 90% and the other 5-10%. I have a consultation with surgeon next week but I don’t want to have my thyroid removed. What can I do in this case?

Does the doctor doing the RFA need to be an endocrinologist?

In 2017, a thyroid ultrasound revealed a 2 cm homogeneous nodule in the right lobe of my thyroid gland. The nodule has been growing steadily (currently 2.5 cm), and the results of fine-needle aspiration biopsies have changed over the years from Bethesda category II (2017, 2021) to category III (August 2024) and category IV (December 2024) - "suspicion of a follicular neoplasm, potencialy with papillary proliferation." I'm thinking of cryoablation at dr Yilmaz's clinic. Obviously, everyone here in PL advise just to cut it out... Is there anyone here, who did cryoablation for potencially cancerous nodules?

I also have a goitre as huge as Kathys and don't want surgery. Would love to do this when available in the uk. I was also told the radioactive treatment would not work for me as my goitre is too large, and that is something i found myself as it wasn't offered to me. They tell me the same. surgery is the only option. So i also took to research. Can someone tell me what the facebook group is called, would love to join

So wish this had been an option for me!! 😢Sadly my nodule was too big and inconclusive so half of my thyroid was removed. I share your channel everywhere in the hopes that others will find hope and success without unnecessary surgery!!

So I am still confused my tyrad score came back as a 3, so they did the molecular testing on it, which came back at 25 percent. We have a very strong history of thyroid cancer.

People, before you have RFA done, please be aware that a large goiter can sometimes be the first stage of Hashimoto's (referred to as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis). This means you need to be tested for both antibodies (anti-TG and anti-TPO) and for early signs of Hashimoto's. It can be tricky to spot, even for an experienced doctor. If you are diagnosed with Hashimoto's, and therefore your goiter and thyroid will shrink on their own, RFA is most probably not the right treatment for you, unless you experience compression symptoms.

Hmmm.... my heart feels so hurt because I don't know what to do. A lady told me she got ablation 45 years ago & it ended up destroying half her thyroid & did not recommend it.

I just watched your video and it gives me so hope because my world has been turned upside down for the last 2 months. I have a 4.7 cm nodule that was biopsied to be benign. I have no symptoms and don't even know it is there. It was found on a routine dentist visit with my dental x-rays. My endocrinologist referred me to a surgeon because she recommended to have half of the thyroid removed. I will go to the surgeon because she is highly recommended and in the Mayo Clinic. But I want to look into alternatives to surgery but I don't know where to start. Can I get some advice on a next step please. Thank you. Bud

Met with the surgeon. She too recommended surgery but was not opposed into me looking into RFA. The Mayo clinic is in the process of referring me to a radiologist for a consultation. I am still a little confused on what to do about surgery or not. I really liked the surgeon and she said no matter what, she would still work with me. I suppose I am in good hands within the Mayo clinic system with whatever direction I decide on. I am all ears to anybody with suggestions. Thanks. Bud

It's NEVER ok to say it's NOT cancer to anyone. Even using the Bethesda process , IT CAN DEFINITELY STILL BE CANCER LATER OR EVEN YEARS LATER

Agreed, saying this for long years despite the initial subjective statements.
